CloseClose to 1 billion people wake up every day to a life without safe drinking water. Children are sick and weak. There is a constant struggle to find the most basic of human needs. Generations of poverty grip millions and wont let go. The lack of safe water and adequate sanitation worldwide is a crisis.a crisis.This crisis steals the lives of 5,500 people each day - more than war, natural disasters, AIDS or hunger. However, despite its enormity, the global water crisis rarely makes the headlines. It is todays silent killer.

ABOUT WATER MISSIONS INTERNATIONAL

TThe global safe water crisis is much more than a lack of safe water. People are trapped in cyclical poverty with no way out. Providing those people with access to safe water gives them opportunity an opportunity to attend school, go to work, and play free from the stress and sickness ththat dirty, disease-filled water brings.

Water Missions International is a nonprofit Christian engineering organization that provides sustainable safe water and sanitation solutions for people in developing countries and disaster areas.

Using state-of-the-art technology and engineering expertise, we engineer comprehensive and custom sustainable safe water and sanitation solutions to meet the needs of individual communities

WWe also partner with the recipient community throughout the process of implementing every safe water project. Once equipment has been installed, our staff monitor and evaluate the project and follow-up with the community to ensure project sustainability and success.

OurOur efficient and effective solutions use best-in-class technology and focus heavily on community development. We know that safe water and sanitation projects are most successful when the community being served has ownership. We partner with members of the community and local leadersleaders to implement and maintain the solution, educate community members about hygiene, and help guide them on a path towards a future of permanent access to safe water.

Why We WalkIt is estimated that women and children around the world spend 2-3 of hours walking to collect water every day. In most cases, the water source is between one to four miles from their home. To make matters worse, the water they are collecting is not suitable for human consumption.

Imagine dipping a bucImagine dipping a bucket into a lake where others are bathing, or worse relieving themselves, and then taking that water back to your family to drink. All too often, this is not a once-a-day activity, but happens several times throughout the day. Add up the total hours spent collecting water, and youll quickly learn theres not much time left for school, work, or enjoy time with friends and family.

TThats why we walk. We walk on behalf of those who walk every single day. We walk to raise awareness and shed light on the global water crisis. We walk to raise funds that provide safe water solutions to people and communities all over the world. We walk so that one day women and children will have safe water that is close to home. This means theyll have more time to study, more time to tell stories, time to love and care for each other, time to sing, dance and laugh and time to think about other things besides where their next sip of water is going to come from.
