    WHAC TWILIGHT RELAYS

    Incorporating The Distance Medley

    Championship of New Zealand

    WHAC Relays is proud to present for the first time in New Zealand the

    Distance Medley Relay (DMR). The DMR which originated in the United Statesof America is steeped in history becoming feature events at the prestigiousPenn and Drake Relays which attract thousands of athletes and fans eachyear. We invite your club/centre to compete in the Unofficial *DMRChampionship of New Zealand. This event is aimed at creating club/centrerivalry in a bid to decide where the best middle distance talent lies.*As an Unofficial Championship no medals or prizes will be on offer, although bragging rights are allyours.

    The Robinson Shield Competition

    The Shield will be awarded to the Club which scores the most points at the end ofthe meet. The points format will be as follows:

    1st

    place 7 points2

    ndplace 5 points

    3rd

    place 3 points4

    thplace 1 point

    Scoring events for the Robinson Shield are as follows:

    4x100m - (W16, W19, M16, M19, SW, SM, MM, MW)

    4x400m - (W16, W19, M16, M19, SW, SM, MM, MW)DMR (Distance Medley Relay) (1200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m) (W16, W19, M16,M19, SW, SM, MM, MW)Open Long Jump 3 person team (Team must include one female)Open Shot Put 3 person team (Team must include one female)

    Please note College teams are able to compete in relay events but are unable toscore in the Robinson Shield as this is an Inter-Club competition.

    Information for Relay events There is no restriction on the number of teams entered in any grade by Clubs. To encourage participation, Clubs may enter a combined age grade relay

    team, and this will be graded at the discretion of the organisers.eg M16, M16, M19, SM will be graded SM.

    Some races may combine age grades, subject to number of team entries e.g.W16, W19 and SW may compete in same race. Points will be still awardedfor winning an individual grade.

    All athletes must be a member of the same Club for points. (i.e. nocomposite teams permitted).

    Information for Field team events Field team events are as follows: Long Jump and Shot Put. A team consists of three athletes of any age grade, which must include at

    least one female athlete. Throwers will throw the appropriate weight implement for their age grade. The team with the furthest distance combined will score the most points

    (e.g. Long Jump winning team- John 6.50m, Chris 7.00m and Amy 5.50m = total of 19.00m)

    Clubs may enter more than one team, this will increase their chance ofreceiving more points.

    Clubs that are unable to field a team are advised that their athletes can stillcompete as an individual competitor, but will not be eligible to receive points.

    All athletes must be a member of the same Club for points .

    General Information Athletes must compete in Club uniform to avoid disqualification at the track

    officials discretion.

    Athletes must be registered with Athletics NZ for the 2011/12 season The WHAC Twilight Relays will be run in line with the IAAF Competition rules
