WHAT COMPANIES DO TO KEEP EMPLOYEES HAPPY

1. Workplace is flatCompanies today are going for open-door policy with a flat structure. The aim is to bring employees comfortable to interact with each other without hierarchy.

2. Let's Innovate!Companies today recognise that Gen Y and Gen Z are not working for them for just money. They are brimming with ideas and want to help the company innovate. So more are opening innovation centres.

3. Work From AnywhereThis trend is more common in startups. In some, employees are allowed to work from anywhere (home or coffee shop or park), as long as they are delivering what is required of them. The others are offering flexible timings - come whenever you want but get the work done.

4. We're OpenCompanies are welcoming new employees in newer ways. Like employees breaking into a dance as new hires come in! The more the new joinees feel at home, the happier they will be as workers in the time to come.

5. Travel With UsOne of the ways companies are luring and retaining employees is offering them global exposure - sending them on onsite locations aboard or rewarding top performers with foreign trips.

6. Study With UsThis is more common in the BPM industry but companies in other industries too are tying up with top institutes to offer employees the chance to learn a new course or go for a higher degree and build a career while working. Some even send employees abroad to study!

7. Day Care FacilitiesFor working parents, a part of their salary goes to paying for the child's crèche. So many companies offer subsidised day care, letting the employees be near their children and also helping them save on their income.

8. Conveyance & Free/Discounted FoodMany organisations offer pick up and drop facilities from office - not just the ones in the BPM industry. Some others have cafeterias where you can have food for free or at rates much lower than in eateries outside. Many companies also offer food cards.

9. Having FunMany companies set up teams - say on cultural events, reading, outdoor activities or sports or fitness. This way, employees feel part of something they enjoy and stay happy and engaged. Then there are tournaments and fun team trips.

10. Extra Cash Is GoodNothing excites people more than an opportunity to earn extra on the job. That's what pushes sales people. But in many organisations, this is not limited to sales. Achievers are often rewarded with cash for say a new idea that clicked or for saving the company money.
