What Do We Dream?

Lucid Dreams – Wondering whether we are actually dreaming or not.

Some are able to test their state of consciousness.

Men and Women dreams

Both Women and men, 8 in 10 dreams are marked by negative emotions.

1 in 10 young men and 1 in 30 among young women had sexual overtones.

Women dream of males and females equally often, whereas 65 percent of the characters in men’s dreams are males. NO ONE IS SURE WHY.

More commonly, we dream of events in our daily lives, a meeting at work, taking an exam, or relating to a family member or friend.

Manifest Content- The story line of our dreams. Incorporates traces of previous days experience and preoccupations.

The sensory stimuli of our sleeping environment may also intrude.

We maintain some awareness of changes in our external environment.

Remember what you dream

While sleeping we can learn to associate a sound with a mild electric shock but we do not remember taped information played while we are sound asleep.

Anything that happens during the 5 minutes just before we fall asleep is typically lost from memory.

To remember a dream, get up and stay awake for a few minutes.
