Advance Parole is permission to re-enter the U.S. after traveling abroad in
order to continue processing an Adjustment of Status application.
If applicants with a pending Adjustment of Status application (except those
in a few specific categories) do not apply for Advance Parole before leaving
the U.S., USCIS will consider them to have abandoned their Adjustment of
Status application and may not permit them to return to the U.S.
