1. Take a mock

2. List the chapters which are in trend

• How will it help?You will be able to keep your focus on topics which matter and can save a lot of time from going waste.

3. Apply 80:20 principle. Devote 80% of your time preparing for Pre

and 20% for Mains.• How will it help?

Preparing for mains beforehand will prove to be crucial and give you an upper hand as almost 90%students start preparing for it only at the declaration of the results of Pre exam and hence hardly get enough time to get ready for it.

Now let's discuss the subject wise preparation. In Pre there are 4 sections;

Quant, Reasoning, Englishand GA and in Mains your Quant and

English language skills will be tested. Let's take each oneindividually.

Quantitative Aptitude1. Get to know what types of questions from a particular chapter are

generally asked in Pre or Mains.2. Practise these questions applying shortcuts. Your aim must be to

solve questions in least possible time.3. Take at least 2 topic tests and one sectional test each week.

Reasoning1. The reasoning questions that come in SSC CGL Pre exam are of basic

level but questions from some of the topics like Classification of numbers, Number analogy, Missing element get you confused and at times prove to be time consuming. Act wise and practise a lot of different questions to gain exposure of different patterns.

2. The section is crucial and provides you with an opportunity to score high. Can score more marks putting less brains.

3. Take at least 2 topic tests and one sectional test each week.

English Language1. To me, gaining command over a language is really a time taking task

but if you are a good reader it becomes a cake walk for you. Do read. Read everyday. Have a great sense of observation. Observe how sentences are framed. Observe the difference between 'deal with' and 'deal in' for instance. Improve your vocabulary. Do give equal importance to phrasal verbs. Love the language. Try learning meaning of every single word that comes to you. We come across many a word in life but we tend not to learn them. For instance brand names such as Pulsar, Paragon, Nexus, etc do carry some meaning but we hardly try to know what they mean.

2. Practise previous years' passages, questions and keep your level of observation high.

3. Take at least 2 topic tests and one sectional test each week.

General Awareness1. As far as GA is concerned, to get to know the trending chapters is

really of high importance as you can't just start preparing for it without actually knowing where to focus.

2. Once you are done with analysis part, gather the required study material. NCERT Books of History, Geography and Science of 6th, 7th and 8th standards are good enough to cover these three major topics. CSR year book would also be a good option to learn Awards, Who's who, Science terminology, etc in quick time.

3. Do not leave previous years questions as they are repeated. Do make your own notes.

4. Be specific while learning Current Affairs. Choose only what matters.5. Take daily GK quizzes and spend time to go through the explanation

part. Do not overdo it.
