phones, the internet and other technology to bully and abuse

another person.

Cyber bullying is a form of emotional abuse and is not something that you have to put up with.

What to do if you are a victim of cyber bullying

Keep a copy of any messages that you receive with details of when they were sent to you

Tell someone that you trust, like a teacher or parent, what is happening so that they can help to deal with it.

NEVER give out personal details about yourself over the internet or to someone you do not know. This includes: your name, your address, your age, your schools, your phone number.

Do not reply to any messages that you receive which are abusive. It may encourage the bully and lead to further harassment.

Block email addresses so you can’t receive anything from the bully.

Report any abuse to the host website so the bully can be stopped

Try to laugh at it. If you laugh at it, you are part of it and often bullies will stop when they don’t get the reaction they’re hoping for.
