And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover."

Now after Jesus had given them the Great Commission, and ascended into heaven, the disciples were left alone, wondering how they could carry out this mission. They were still too afraid of the Romans & Jews, to start going out and preaching.

Watch the video. What happened a few days later that changed their situation?

The Day of Pentecost

1. Describe what happened on the Day of Pentecost.

2. How were the apostles different after they received the Holy Spirit? Summarise the 6 ways.

**Which of these ways do you think made the biggest different to being able to do ?

The Holy Spirit gave believers the

desire to pray to God. They met in

the Temple, and in each other’s

houses to celebrate the Lord’s

supper. And they were filled with

God’s joy.

they were no longer afraid.

They went about the town,

preaching and teaching

about Jesus, and baptising

new believers.

They visited & cared for those who were poor, sick, lonely or in need of any kind of help.

They worked miracles

and healed people from

all kinds of illnesses and

disabilities. They cast

out evil spirit from

people.

They started to talk in other

languages, which they had never

learnt before. They told foreign

people about Jesus in their own

language.They shared everything

they had with one

another. No one said

anything belonged to

them alone.
