Can somebody tell me, What is the difference between, Configuration Components and Software

Components?

Hi,

Software component is information about all existing software modules, as well as their

combination options and dependencies. (SAP Basis 6.20 is a software component)

Configuration component is where you can configure (eg Integration Directory)

Configuration Objects:

You use configuration objects to help you to structure and organize your configuration

data in the Integration Directory

You can group configuration objects by using configuration scenarios.

The following configuration objects exist:

1) Collaboration profile objects

-Communication Party

-Service

-Communication Channel

2) Logical routing objects

- Receiver determination

- Interface determination

3) Collaboration agreement objects

- Sender Agreement

- Receiver Agreement

a soft ware component is a unit of software deliverythat has its own support packagetrack.

example:software components are SAP_APPl, SAP_HR, SAP_ABA etc

example: Product (CRM) is linked with Software Component (SD, FI, MM, BSP) and we install these

Software Components on a Physical Machine (Technical System ) and refer it (Technical System)

with a Logical Name (Business System - CRM_SYSTEM).

configuration components are nothing but :

business scenarious

business process

collaboration profiles

routing rules and

collaboration agreements

Configuration Components: These r used to configure the scenarios in ID

collabaration profiles

collabaration aggrements

logical routings

softwer components: These are used to desing the objects In IR

For exaple SAP is a Software SAP XI is a softwere component
