We deal with analyzing investments AND portfolios, and are fully capable of taking roles of adviser/planner. Chartered professionals have stronger credentials than fin planners/advisors imho -- (1) The CFA designation is recognized worldwide, (2) getting it is extremely difficult and takes a minimum of four years, requiring either a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, (3) curriculum is equivalent to an MBA in Finance and Investing, (4) the CFA designation is becoming an industry standard in the investment industry.
