Abstract

• Infographics are becoming one of the most commonly used methods of conveying information. They can be used to display data, trends, ideas, and much more. Infographics are informative and eye catching images that are beginning to be very popular in classrooms across the nation. As abundant of the types of infographics, are the tools available to build them.

• Participants will learn how infographics help students with literacy skills necessary to research, critique, summarize, and communicate information.

• Participant will learn about the various tools used to create infographics. Tools such as Nerdgraph, Piktochart, and Easelly will be demonstrated.

Definition of a Infographic

• A picture is worth a thousand words• “inviting as infographics are the ability to

make them does not replace strong reading and writing skills” (Jaeger, 2012).

• “Infographics require deep understanding of the subject, the ability to summarize details and synthesize knowledge, and the creative spirit to wrap that knowledge up in an appealing way” (Jaeger, 2012).
