Surge Student Ministry is Family-Ministry Based
In other words, what happens in Surge should be a byproduct of what is happening with families at home.
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your
hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your
houses and on your gates.”
Deuteronomy 6:4-9
“Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you today whose
heart turns away from the lord our God to go and worship the gods of those nations;
make sure there is no root among you that produces such bitter poison.”
Deuteronomy 29:18

The other nights are
reserved for students to attend a life group with their family.
“From the time they hit middle school, [teenagers] start moving away from home…They are becoming independent, and they begin redefining themselves through the eyes of other people who are not in their family. The older they get, the more important it is to
have other voices in their lives saying the same things but in a different way.”
