Genetec Set To Showcase Mission Control - Decision Support SystemMission Control is a Decision Support System that provides organisations with new levels of situational intelligence, visualisation, and complete incident management capabilities. It allows security personnel to make the right decision when faced with both major threats and routine tasks, such as guiding security and maintenance teams when dealing with operational and maintenance issues. Mission Control empowers organisations to manage the entire lifecycle of an incident, from data consumption (sensor and security device event and alarm monitoring) through to incident resolution, reporting and auditing.

Traditional security systems report events and alarms. While these systems let operators react to presented situations, this approach provides operators with an

incomplete picture of the operational environment and leaves organisations exposed. Mission Control allows for greater situational intelligence by using a platform that properly assesses situations, qualifies a variety of incoming sensor data, and translates that data into incidents that expose the true nature of a situation

or a threat. Instead of simply sending alarms, the product guides operators through the entire lifecycle of an incident, from trigger to resolution.

BORDERS & INFRASTRUCTURE EXPO LAUNCHED FOR IFSEC 2017IFSEC International has launched a new high-level show, Borders & Infrastructure Expo, running alongside IFSEC International. Face & Vehicle Appearance Search Using deep neural networks, Avigilon Face Appearance Search video analytics technology enables searching for a person by incorporating the unique characteristics of a face to find similar recorded footage of that person across a site. For operators, this technology increases the speed and accuracy of investigations, by detecting and understanding that it is searching for the same person, even if items such as their clothing changes over time. Avigilon Vehicle Appearance Search enables users to quickly search recorded footage and find a specific vehicle across a site. This technology is designed to provide security operators critical information about where and when a vehicle might have been before and after an event. Avigilon Vehicle Appearance Search is available with Avigilon Control Center software version 6.2.

Unusual Motion Detection (UMD) PreviewUMD is an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) video analytics technology that brings a new level of automation to surveillance. The technology continuously learns what typical activity in the scene looks like and focuses the operator’s attention on atypical events needing further investigation. UMD is able to automatically detect unusual events, such as a vehicle moving in the wrong direction, or a stationary crowd in a public space being suddenly disrupted. It enables users to quickly and easily search through volumes of recorded footage, revealing events that might have otherwise been missed.

Vanderbilt Delivers IP Access Control to 500 Asda Sites

Vanderbilt IP access control systems have been installed at Asda stores and distribution centers across the UK. The roll-out has already covered 500 sites all of which are networked to Asda’s corporate headquarters in Leeds.

Asda is benefiting from Vanderbilt’s ACTpro 4000 two-door controllers that can extend to 16 doors via ACTpro door stations. In turn,

up to 250 of the controllers can be networked via a PC interface. The hardware offers low bandwidth and auto-discovery for easy installation and maintenance, alongside features such as timed anti-passback and counting areas.

The Asda sites are also using Vanderbilt’s software platform, ACTpro Enterprise, which distinguishes between different user types such as installer, security guard

or system administrator to factor out accidental system changes. For example, an Asda staff member might present their MIFARE contactless smart card to a reader. ACTpro Enterprise then grants or denies access based on the user’s privileges which can be defined by seniority, job profile, time of day, and day of the week.

Rob Cox of CBES Fire & Security, who installed the equipment, stated: “The main benefits for Asda are central monitoring from headquarters and integration of access control with video and any other IP-enabled building management system in use at the stores. The software has allowed uniformity by being able to function with Asda’s existing smart cards. This has produced both financial and time savings and the avoidance of any re-keying of data.”
