We want this to be the same for all

Why we have written this document

This Disability Services AdvisoryCouncil finds out what you think
and tells the people who manage
Life Without Barriers.
We have started a group to help us
hear from all people who get support
from Life Without Barriers.
The group is called the Disability
Services Advisory Council.
You will get information about how
the Disability Services Advisory Councilworks if you keep reading this
document.
The Disability Services AdvisoryCouncil is not the only way you say
what you think.
You can also say what you think to
anyone who works for Life Without
Barriers.
Or you can say on our website.

4. We need to know what people
in your life think too.
This is part of developing networks
and communities where you can
have valued roles.
8
6. You and the people who support
you should make choices.
It is ok for you to make some
choices that you know include
some risks.
5. We need to get to know you as
an individual and give you
respect.
7. We will not tell people about
what you say and do. Unless you
say it is ok.
8. We will encourage you to make
your own choices without us.

The Disability Services Advisory Council checks what we do against standards
for all services for people with disability

We want you all to be able to say
what you think.
We want the Disability Services Advisory Council to know what youthink.
Lots of people get support from Life
Without Barriers.
If you get support from us you can be
part of a group near you.
If there is not a group near you then
you can ask how to get involved
There are lots of these groups.
How the Disability Services Advisory Council works
12
The State or Area group make sure
that people from Life Without Barriers
who support you know what you think.
These people report what is important
to the State or Area group to the
Disability Advisory Council
Some members of the State and Area
groups are picked.
They are chosen to be part of the
group called the Disability Advisory
Council.
This Disability Services Advisory Council then report what you think to people
who decide what happens at Life
Without Barriers.
This includes reporting to managers
and the Board.

• say what you ask them to.

some important things.
Life Without Barriers may start new
