WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT DRIVER’S EDUCATION
Driver’s Education is required by state law for all 15 & 16 year-old children who want a learner’s permit.
State law requires all Driver’s Ed schools to provide 30 hrs. of classroom instruction and a full 8 hrs. of actual driving instruction (As of January 1, 2009 the law was changed from 6 to 8 hrs. of driving).
HOW DO YOU KNOW A DRIVER’S ED SCHOOL COMPLIES WITH STATE LAW?
Reputation– How long has a school been teaching Driver’s Ed?
Instructors– How many classroom and driving instructors are there? Are all the instructors de-greed and certified in Driver’s Ed? How long have they taught Driver’s Ed?
Ask other parents-What school did they use? Did their child get the full 8 hrs. of driving? Were the classroom hours cut short?
Beware of the following…
Schools that guarantee every student will pass (guarantees are illegal)
Advertisements with extremely low prices for Driver’s Ed. These are usually deposits and
NOT the full price.
Always ask all the above questions concerning instructors, hours of instruction and the total
cost.
