Heres Why: Having a library card is kind of like having Wonder Woman super powers, with a library card you can explore out of this world books—for FREE! To celebrate National Library Card month in September we encourage you to get your very own library card. To get your card, please bring proof of residency (such as a utility bill) as well as a photo ID. Every Marshall school district res- ident age 6 and older qualifies. Here are just a few reasons why being part of your local library and holding a library card is an out of this world experience. Libraries strengthen local economies. 84% of libraries offer technology training to patrons 73% of libraries assist individuals in applying for jobs, creating resumes, and preparing for interviews 97% of libraries help people complete online govt. forms Libraries create healthier communities. 77% of libraries offer online health resources 23% offer fitness classes Libraries promote lifelong learning. 95% provide online homework assistance 95% offer summer reading programs for children 100% of public libraries offer access to the Internet 98% of public libraries offer free Wifi 90% help patrons with basic Internet skills 9 out of 10 libraries offer access to free e-books Back-to-School Programming, how its Different this Year... As school resumes so do annual back-to-school library programs, however this year due to Covid-19, library programming will look a little different. All in person school programming is cancelled Instead, Little Book Beginners ages 3-5 years, STREAM for 3rd –6th grades and TAB for teens 7th—12th grades will be able to participate by way of make-and-take kits and Facebook streaming videos. Monthly kits will be available for pick up at the library, with a limit of one kit per family for Little Book Beginners and one kit per child for STREAM and TAB. To reserve your free kit please call the library beginning the first day of each new month, kits may be picked up starting the third Monday of each month. Supplies are limited. Libraries are WONDERFUL! Here’s Why: Having a library card is kind of like having Wonder Woman super

powers, with a library card you can explore out of this world

books—for FREE! To celebrate National Library Card month in

September we encourage you to get your very own library card. To

Back-to-School Programming, how it’s Different this Year... As school resumes so do annual back-to-school library programs, however this year due to Covid-19, library

programming will look a little different. All in person school programming is cancelled Instead, Little Book

Beginners ages 3-5 years, STREAM for 3rd –6th grades and TAB for teens 7th—12th grades will be able to

Friends of the Library met July 2nd at 5:00 PM in the library’s Dale McConchie meeting room.

At the meeting Friends approved membership drive mailings minus kick off program. Friends also held their annual election of officers, elected: President—Damian Macey, Treasurer—Patty Macke and

Secretary—Edie Breneman. Approved purchases included a gift card to Bob and Anne Kile for hosting guest

speaker and book memorial for former Friend of the Library and Board Trustee Dudley Crow. The next meet-

ing will be September 3rd at 5:00 PM in the Dale McConchie meeting room.
