but this is the stor of a real Wells Fargo horse.

The horse named El Toro lived and worked in

Mexico Cit , where people speak Spanish. El Toro

was a favorite horse of the Wells Fargo agents.

In 1913, El Toro was 27 ears old, one of the

oldest horses that worked for Wells Fargo at the

time. Even though he was ver old, El Toro enjo ed

delivering letters and packages, meeting old

friends, and making new ones. Ever one liked

El Toro, “the bull.”

El Toro was a big cream-colored horse that worked for Wells Fargo in Mexico Cit . Because he was older, El Toro onl worked a few hours a week.

El Toro pulled a big blue Wells Fargo express wagon loaded with avocados, eggs, boots, and mail. El Toro was hard-working and strong. That’s wh he was called “the bull.”

While stopping to deliver fruit to a market, El Toro rested in the shade of a big tree. A chameleon on a leaf stared at him, but El Toro didn’t see him because the chameleon became the colors of the tree. A chameleon is el camaleón.

Back in his stable, El Toro rested from his hard work. The stable mouse poked his nose out as a hello. A mouse is el ratón. El Toro watched the mouse scurr awa and then went to sleep. He dreamed about all the friends he met along his route. He looked forward to making more deliveries and meeting more amigos next time.
