! e Rhode Island Public Works Association o" ers several scholarship opportunities.
Endowment Scholarship
An endowed scholarship is a major gi! to a college or university used to fund scholarships. " e feature that most distinguishes endowed scholarships from other types of donations is that the capital in the endowed scholarship gi! is preserved so that the gi! can last inde# nitely. RIPWA has set up an endowment scholarship with the University of Rhode Island. See letter to the le! for more information on this years 2012 RIPWA endowment scholarship.
Chuck Smith presented a HP Laptop and Printer to the Scitu-ate DPW on 3/1/11 to be used by mechanics Dean Randall and Curtis Lotter to diagnose and maintain the $ eet. Dale Langlais, Scituate DPW Director applied for the grant though the Rhode Island Public Works Association Municipal Scholarship.
Municipal Scholarship
" is years approved municipal scholarships were • Coventry DPW received a cash scholarship to purchase
safety equipment.• Foster DPW received a laptop. See pic on pg 8. In these di% cult economic times, the Rhode Island Public Works Association will consider requests from municipalities for items that will help make their departments safer, more productive, technologically pro# cient and overall a better place to work.

Mr. Je! CathcartRI Public Works Association78 Burnt Hill RoadHope, RI 02831
Dear Mr. Cathcart,
As the holiday season is upon us, we take time to re" ect on our good fortune at URI. Benefactors like youhave given the university much to appreciate and even more to showcase for many years to come. Mostrecently, due to your direct support, a student’s # nancial responsibility was lessened and his or her dreamof earning a college degree has come closer to becoming a reality.
On behalf of the University of Rhode Island and the URI Foundation, I am glad to report to you on the RI
Public Works Endowment Scholarship award for the 2011-2012 academic year. Recently, this scholarshipwas awarded to Erik C. Stamp, a Civil Engineering major from Coventry, RI.
$ e level and breadth of support we receive from our alumni and friends makes a signi# cant impact on theoverall academic experience here at URI, the e! ects of which are felt across the campus community.Despite a di% cult economy, we have seen historic giving levels to URI.
Last year, a record $18.9 million in charitable gi( s were received by the university. Approximately 44% ofthat was earmarked to fund existing or create new endowments. $ e majority of our endowment fundsgenerate scholarships for undergraduate and graduate student support. In fact, over $1.5 million inendowment earnings was distributed for this academic year by the Foundation to provide this much-neededand well-deserved # nancial assistance to hundreds of students across all colleges.
We extend to you, as one of our valued donors, an invitation to come to campus to meet your scholarshiprecipient, Erik, at a time convenient to you. If you would like us to arrange a convenient meeting time, please contact Ted Woodbine in the URI Foundation donor relations o% ce at 401-874-5273 [email protected] .
$ ank you again for contributing to our success by supporting student scholarships and for enhancingURI’s quality and distinction.
Best regard

Ease of mind and ease of installa-
tion. You get both with Snap-Tite.
Our patented design and installation system renews a failing
culvert without removing deteriorated pipe.
Most jobs can be completed with a backhoe, shovels, a
