SAS Staff Recognition Week

This week is SAS staff recognition week. Our SAS staff include office people, learning support officers and general assistants. We would like to acknowledge the contribution that they all make to the smooth running of the school.

Our SAS staff are:

Tania Wettern School Administration Manager (SAM)

Sue Terlich School Administration Officer (SAO)

Peta Bullock School Administration Officer (SAO)

Kerrie Harrison School Learning Support officer (SLSO)

Monique Doig School Learning Support officer (SLSO)

Daniel Cox School Learning Support officer (SLSO)

Terry Carter General Assistant (GA)

Wolfgang Ditko casual General Assistant (GA)

They ensure that: the office runs smoothly, students are engaged in learning in the classroom, our library resources are up to date and organised, and our school grounds and buildings are safe and appealing.

Aladdin - Gala Performance

Congratulations to all staff and students for their hard work and dedication in the lead up to the Gala Night next week. A special thanks to parents for ensuring that students have their costumes sorted. I have seen and heard students practising throughout the week and am very excited to see how it all comes together.

Riverina PSSA Athletics Carnival

Congratulations to Johnny Coe, Angus White, Felicity Quinn, Zadkiel Cameron-Pani and Evie Bahr for representing Henty Public in a range of events last week at the Riverina PSSA Athletics Carnival. They endured bitter weather and long waits to compete and they represented their school with great sportsmanship. We are very proud of you!

Our writing focus

Teachers and students have been concentrating on strengthening students’ writing in all classes from Kinder to Year Six. I have visited all classrooms and have read some amazing stories, descriptions and sizzling starts! We should all be very pleased with both the students’ writing efforts and fabulous published works. Congratulations to all students.

Have a great week

Tina Roworth

MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETINGS – General meeting 20 June 2018The minutes of the previous meetings were accepted as a true and correct record.Moved H.Weston, 2nd J.White. Carried.

BUSINESS ARISING FROM MINUTES- Streetscape on 9 November: Borne out of a celebration of Bendigo Bank’s

20 year anniversary, the event has expanded to include other community groups. There are now 7 sponsors. Will run in the afternoon, into the evening and include jumping castles, merry-go-round, face painting, fireworks, etc. Both schools will be involved with Henty Public School band performing items.

- Proposed updated constitution – Abi Meyer has fine-tuned the existing draft which will be emailed out to the committee and interested parties to perusebefore next meeting.

- Discussion about where funds raised should be directed. Tina asked that the proposed COLA be given top priority. She explained that the school would be able to contribute $30K of the quoted $68,400, and would be able to roll that over to be used on the project in 2019. She asked that the P&C ‘top up’ that amount, even if only in part. The hope is that there will be more school funding in 2019 to be allocated to the project, and that the COLA can be completed in 2019. Other suggestions from members for the wish list includean upgrade to the cement quadrangle (artwork, etc), a mini bus for school excursions for small groups, and also a kitchen upgrade.

Heidi to ask Abi for copy of the draft to be emailed out.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT Read and moved H.Weston, seconded K.White. Carried.Heidi noted the new screen doors at the school have made a big difference. She thanked the people who had volunteered for cooking on the Book Parade bbq, and noted the many events – Education week, Gala night, HMFD – that were happening this term.

PRINCIPAL’S REPORTPresented by Tina Roworth.

1. Uniform change: After surveying the parents, students, and staff, the decision has been made to change parts of the sports uniform from red to navy blue. Items will include the sports shorts, sports tracksuit pants and top. There will be a two year transition period.

2. There has been a change in assets management: less bureaucracy and compliance issues will result in more autonomy in the way the school is able to execute projects. The school can now self-manage ‘Tier 1’ projects including fixtures and joinery, landscaping, carpeting, among other areas.
