Since February we have enjoyed listening to the adventures of wombats, seagulls, penguins, hungry bears, brave cows and best friends Pearl and Charlie. We love to celebrate birthdays & recently we shared the excitement of twins Harry & Jackson turning 3. Our youngest Jellybeaner has just begun to crawl & it is a joy to watch little Heidi reach her milestones of development. We were invited to take our group to Pacifica Nursing Home on two occasions to share stories with the residents and join them for morning tea. Deb and Lynn are thrilled to watch friendships form between the mothers as they share the journey of parenting with each other. Please continue to pray for this outreach activity in our local community.

What’s On This Week

Proclaiming Jesus as Lord on the hills and in the valleys to build a community of faith, hope & love

9th July 2017 - 5th Sunday after Pentecost

Rector’s Ramblings

Well, the first half of the year has seen some significant challenges and significant achieve-

ments. The launch of “Jellybeans@StJohns” has been a wonderful connection with young fami-

lies in our community where new friendships have been formed. Real Life Connect commenced

in February/March and has highlighted the value of sharing our stories and being real Chris-

tians in the community. We have had great success with “Christianity Explored” and look for-

ward to more such programs.

But I am drawn back to the words of Matthew 11.16-17 where he compares that generation to

children sitting in a market place calling out “We played the flute for you and you did not dance,

we sang a dirge and you did not mourn”. We need to reflect on our own journey and respond-

ing to Jesus’ call to be people of action. Jesus goes on to say that to those who think they have

got it all together, the wise, learned, those of self-importance, he has hidden these things and

revealed them to the “little children”, those He has chosen. Are you involved, are you hearing,

are you connected or do you rely on what you think? Blessings, Ross
