Kalina’s Glamping Adventure

You know how many times we have camped as a family this year? Zero. Zero with a capital Z-E-R-O.

Which is pretty crazy considering we have camped with feeding tubes and feeding pumps, camped in Oregon for aweek at a time and gone to our church campout every single year it has been in existence.

Yeah, our kids are not exactly thrilled with this. But between a trip to Peru, summer camp and, oh yeah, aWEDDING, we’ve been busy. Kalina and Jubilee, however, managed some glamping. You know what glamping is,right? Glamorous camping.

(Yeah, I’m not a fan of the word either)

Well, it just so happens that the Glen Echo Garden the botanical garden that both Enoch and Kalina have worked at(and where Tilly and Jared were married) has a glamping area set up. Kalina arranged with her boss to have aglamping night with her friends when she returned from Peru.

And finally, last weekend, the time arrived.

The key to any great glamping experience is food, friends, and the great outdoors.

Kalina managed to score all three.

The location of Glen Echo Garden is amazing! It is seven acres of botanical gardens set in a wooded valley. I’m nofan of flowers (I think you all know that) but I love trees, ferns and the being outdoors.

The tent set up for glamping is a large canvas tent with amazingly soft beds.

The tent easily sleeps five people with plenty of floor space to add extra sleeping bags.

We all know how important good food is to a good party. Kalina had it all. Pizza, veggie tray, candy, cookies,donuts…

Jones Soda (because who doesn’t love these bright colors?)

We were also totally spoiled by having Anytime Toffee . This stuff is handmade, locally, and I promise you it is thebest toffee you will ever try.

Glen Echo Garden supplies a Keurig in the tent..and we provided plenty of coffee (and hot chocolate).

Did I mention Glen Echo Garden has flushing toilets and a shower?

And in the morning the girls had my favorite breakfast, yogurt parfaits.

It was the perfect end to the perfect glamping experience.
