Dear Rex and David,.

They used to say "What's good for General Motors is good for America.".

At that time, that might have been true as America was growing and developing..

We are now past that phase. We have a new reality. That metaphor is no longer valid..

You undoubtedly believe "What's good for ExxonMobil is good for America" but continued drilling, production and combustion of hydrocarbons is a slow, inevitable death for the American economy;ExxonMobil's viability as a profitable enterprise; your portfolio; the pensions of not onlyExxonMobil employees, but would-be pensioners in all sectors; and the global economy..

ExxonMobil's continued refusal to reinvent as a carbon-free fuel company will bring us all down..

As a Boy Scout and as an Eagle Scout, you took oaths similar to the oaths you have taken everySunday you attend worship services. Until you acknowledge that your business-as-usual expansionof the carbon-based infrastructure will take the biosphere back in time 400 million years, youviolate those oaths and condemn future generations and all species to a degradation and death..

You know what needs to be done for a "smooth landing." Don't give us a "crash landing.".

Re-energize with clean carbon-free fuels — for life!Re-invent ExxonMobil as an energy company, be more than an oil & gas company.Re-direct capital investments from carbon-based infrastructure to carbon-free infrastructure.Announce a retirement schedule for your refineries — let the end-game begin..Your "leadership by example would usher in a new era...."ccPlease meet me for coffee — Let's talk about the urgency and deadline to protect all life from:

Extreme weather  - Increasing death/damage from more heat waves, high winds & high water.Hunger and thirst - Increasing drought/famine from natural & anthropogenic water shortages. Disease and pestilence - Harmful critters, parasites and bacteria are already on the move.Social unrest and economic upheaval - We have seen precursors — worse is yet to come.
