Rare appearance and chat about history BY SCOTT WESTLUND

Sheridan Electric had a rare opportunity to interview a particular woman who was

married to one of the founding fathers of the cooperative. Sigrid Petersen was present to give us a history lesson after the filming of the Miss Montana commercial

at the manor in Plentywood. It seemed only prudent that we film the interview while the people and equipment were present.

As the cameras rolled, Sigrid talked about the first days of electricity and the help it gave to the women of the household. Washing

machines and cookstoves were the topic here. She said that the first thing her husband bought was a radio. She also described the work that her husband endured as part of the original board of Sheridan Electric to bring electricity to this service territory.

Sheridan Electric donates toward Business Professionals of America

Sheridan Electric has donated toward the service territory’s national competitors for the Business Professionals of America. Froid, Plentywood and Bainville all have teams going to nationals this year. A $2,000 check was issued to these three teams to assist them on their journey.

In meeting with these young folks, we could actually be looking at the future leadership of this cooperative.Good luck in Florida.

In the spirit of efficiency, Sheridan Electric Cooperative is giving away compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) each month. Each month’s winner will receive 24 new CFL

bulbs. A CFL produces the same amount of light for less than half the cost. The bulbs also produce about 75 percent less heat, so they are safer to operate. They can also last up to 10 times longer than the standard incandescent bulb. You could save $80 a year by switching to CFLs throughout your home! So this month, take a moment to complete and mail the coupon. Maybe you’ll be this month’s lucky winner and save on your energy costs. Good luck! n
