Over 10,000 people a year are inspired by the choice of creative opportunities offered by the THSH Education & Community department. People of all ages discover the venues and artistic programme by participating in events and projects in family, school and community settings, the state-of-the-art Patrick Music and Multimedia Studio and the halls themselves.

SPOTLIGHT ON ... ARTS AWARD

THSH delivers partnership projects with specialist youth organisations. Many of the groups we engage with find themselves not in education or employment. Through creative projects delivered in our newly refurbished Patrick Music and Multimedia Studio young people are able to achieve an Arts Award - a nationally recognised qualification that encourages young people to be creators, audiences, participants and leaders.

This spring THSH welcomed a group from young people’s charity Fairbridge. They worked with professional artists on a project inspired by Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring 3D at Symphony Hall. Taking ideas from the technology used in the performance, the group learnt skills in film, photography, movement, music and animation to produce creative work enabling them to achieve a Silver Arts Award.

Working alongside professional artists and using the outstanding resources at THSH, young people working on Arts Award programmes are encouraged to develop the motivation, confidence and skills that they need to succeed. If you would like to find out more please contact [email protected].

Performances Birmingham is one of the largest regional arts charities in the country. We invite people to discover great performances at the heart of Birmingham and participate in community arts projects at our two world-famous venues.

Ticket sales alone cannot sustain our programme; we rely on voluntary contributions to enable us to continue and expand our work. We aim to reach even more people within our communities and further develop our wide-ranging programme. We would like to thank all our supporters for their generous contributions to our charitable work over the last year.
