Jimmy & Jez here, giving you an update of what’s been happening over the Easter vacation and what’s heading your way next term…. WOOF!

Winchester is Gold Standard Students can have pride in their Union after recently picking up Gold in the Sound Impact awards. Ranked second place in the UK behind Edinburgh meaning we are officially the greenest Student Union in England. Adding to this great success we achieved Silver in the Best Bar None awards narrowly missing out on Gold. A fantastic achievement and I would like to thank all students and staff alike who worked so hard to make this possible.

NUS Conference Students from all over the UK met in Newcastle last week to debate/discuss and elect motions, priorities and officers for the next academic year. It was a real pleasure to represent Winchester with two NUS Delegates students from Winchester, Richard Stringer and Giorgio Buttironi. If you have any questions on it please ask me…Jimmy.

General Election One of the most exciting and interesting general elections in decades is currently happening. It literally could go any way. Don’t forget to vote on May 6th and you have the opportunity to watch the events unfold on Thursday night at the SU.

Tours & Athletics Championship A huge shout out to all TOURISTS over the Easter break. Amsterdam, Salou and Paris were invaded by the mighty Team Winchester and great fun was had by all – DONDE – TOUR!!! What happened on Tour however stays on Tour – or just look at facebook...keep checking the Student Union website for details of next year’s tours! If you’re having withdrawal symptoms from not being on tour, sports tour Salou 2010 reunion and awards night is on Tuesday 18th May in The Vault – tickets on sale now! The Winchester Athletics Championships will be taking place on Wednesday 19th May 2010 at Winchester Sports Stadium. This will be the first time this type of event will have been hosted in the City and we have the honour of 10 other universities and colleges competing against us...if you’re interested in marshalling at the event, please sign up at the SU Offices!

SU Elections Big well done to all those who took part in this year’s Student Union Election and congratulations to the winners. I’m sure the year in office will bring many challenges and ones you will embrace and enjoy. You will all be amazing.
