Spring has most definitely sprung here in York! The sun’s out (well, it was at the time of writing), the daffodils are blooming all around the city walls and the clocks have gone forward, meaning there are all those lovely light nights to look forward to. what better time to explore our beautiful city?

and there is so much to see and do in York this month. There are a whole host of easter-themed activities for the whole family

happening around the city. Take the kids on an egg hunt, design an easter egg, or get involved in a wide range of arts and craft activities (you’ll find a full list of events in our diary section).

if you’re looking for somewhere special to celebrate mother’s day, why not take mum out for lunch? hotels all over York are holding special mother’s day lunches, or how about tea in the sumptuous surroundings of Fairfax house?

and then, of course, there’s the royal wedding. if you don’t have an invitation to the big day, you

can still celebrate in style at one of the many events happening in the city. Look out for details in this month’s what’s on.

bigger Trees Near Warter York art gallery. The largest painting david hockney has ever created is on show in York art gallery. The work, measuring 12m by 4.5m, is made up of 50 smaller canvasses of a landscape near the east Yorkshire village of warter.

From 10am. on good Friday, easter saturday and easter monday, The Farmer’s cart near strensall is welcoming young easter egg hunters.
