DCP, FCIP launch Green+Design Furniture Competition PHL 2013 The Design Center of the Philippines (DCP) and the Chamber of Furniture Industries of the Philippines (CFIP) have officially launched the “2013 Philippine Green+Design Furniture Competition,” to recognize the exceptional skills of Filipino designers and design students in creating excellent furniture eco-design concepts. The competition aims to: Promote green design to Filipino furniture manufacturers, designers,

and design students; Promote utilization of sustainable materials as components or in combination

with other materials for the furniture; Develop green furniture standards that will suit the domestic and international

markets; and Create consumer awareness and interest on green furniture.

Qualified professional designers and design students may download the electronic copy of the official entry form at www.pddcp.gov.ph or www.cfip.ph. The deadline for submission of entries is on July 25, 2013. Professional Category Student Category THEME Resort and Hotel Furniture Collections

QUALIFICATIONS Bonafide professional Filipino designers, both local and foreign-based, with at least two years of industry design practice

Bonafide 3rd and 4th year level students of Industrial Design, and Architecture programs from any academic institutions

PRELIMINARY SCREENING

Preliminary screening of designs will be ranked based on the panel of judges’ decision Top four designs selected in the preliminary screening will then qualify for the final judging, upon concurrence of the panel of judges

Top 10 designs selected in the preliminary screening will then qualify for the final judging, upon concurrence of the panel of judges

FINAL JUDGING Judges will rate the finalists and rank them from highest to lowest. Deliberation shall be made by panel of judges based on design drawings, rationale, prototype, and other portfolios submitted by the finalists The judges’ decision is final

PRIZES Finalists will be awarded with certificates of recognition Winners will be awarded as follows: 1st place All-expenses-paid trip to visit a major international design and trade show in Europe (worth P100,000.00) plus plaque 2nd place All-expenses-paid trip to visit a major international design and trade show in Asia Pacific (worth P60,000.00) plus plaque Both 1st and 2nd place are inclusive of roundtrip plane tickets and accommodations Prizes are non-convertible to cash
