Welcome to Stair & Railing Designer 2017 Part of the Graitec Advance BIM Designer collection, the Stair & Railing Designer’s deliver advanced modelling capabilities for Autodesk Advance Steel users across a wide market sector from Architectural metalwork to utilities, industrial plant and mining.

Available as separate packages, the Stair Designer introduces the possibility to quickly configure balanced and saddled stair types in Advance Steel. Whilst the Railing Designer, formerly Ball Post Railing Designer, enhances the existing functionality of the Ball Post Railing style enabling railing to be placed on a variety of elements including a polyline.

The Railing Designer introduces new standard railing for use with the Stair Designer or along any element and a new wall railing style that can be placed directly on a concrete wall both expanding the versatility of Advance Steel.

News

Balanced stair This new command helps configure balanced stairs, enabling the support to be made from a plate or a beam following a few simple steps:

Define the start point in XY plane by typing in the dimensions or selecting a point:

Define the turning point in XY plane:

Define the end point in the XY plane:

Define the height of the stair:

Choose the alignment of the stair depending on the previously selected points.

Saddled stair This command helps define saddled stairs, with support members also made from plates or from beams.

Standard railing The new "Standard railing" feature from the Stair and Railing Designer offers the possibility to create a railing on any type of Advance Steel object, including an AutoCAD line. The connection with the support is also included and can be configured by the user including seating the posts directly on the treads.

Wall mounted railings The "Wall mounted railings" feature breaks the modeling restrictions and allows users to create a simple but aesthetic railing along a line, so the support element can be any object: concrete walls, beams, steel panels, steel beams, etc.

Improvements

“Ball Post” railing One major improvement for this version is the addition of the same behaviour as for the standard railing; no more restrictions regarding the support object. Railings can now be created on beams, polybeams, plates, gratings and simple AutoCAD lines.

This will greatly expand the range of modelling possibilities.
