I specialize in body type discovery and the theory of Optical Diversion that helps women identify the types of clothing that bring out their best features and boost their confidence.

What’s Your Body Type?The First Step To Building A Flattering Wardrobe Is Knowing Your Body Type

Get Over It! Before determining your body type there is one important point I need to

discuss about fashion. And I don’t mean this to sound harsh, but sometimes I just have to tell my clients to Get Over It!

I work with hundreds of women, some small, some large, some really large. Every single one of those women have something that they don’t like about themselves (yes, even the ones that society would say have the perfect body). God gave you the body you have, imperfections and all. And the key to truly gaining confidence that shines from the inside out is learning to love your uniqueness and embracing it. 

If you can’t embrace your perceived flaws, for better or for worse, it doesn’t matter how beautiful or glamorous your wardrobe is - on the inside you will always feel like something is missing.

If you can do that, I have the next best solution to completely altering your appearance - Optical Diversion.

No matter what shape or size you are, you will look terrific by balancing your proportions using my theory of Optical Diversion; distracting the eye away from the areas you don’t like and drawing attention to the areas that you want to show off. 

Before finding out your body type in the next part of this guide, for now I want you to take a few moments to give yourself a hug and a pat on the back for being a beautiful, confident woman! You’ve accomplished so much, you need to stop selling yourself short, and the way to start is by accepting who you are, perceived flaws and all.

Confidence is the #1 quality that makes a woman attractive. Period. If you hold yourself with confidence, with a deep knowing of your own personal power and value, others will be drawn to you like a magnet. If you are lacking in this area, it is imperative that you do what you need to do to get a confidence boost now! If you’ve ever put into practice the saying, “fake it until you make it,” you know that sometimes the reasons you were afraid to put yourself out there in the first place quickly dissolve when you realize how easy it is to rise to the challenge. Confidence is also a learned skill, reinforced by compliments and approval from others. However, it needs to come from the inside first in order for others to see it.

Low on confidence? Here are a few ideas to jumpstart the process:

✴ Listen to a recording of positive affirmations.✴ Hire a life coach.✴ Read a motivational book.✴ Call up a supportive friend.✴ Search for inspirational quotes and stories on Google

or Pinterest.✴ Ask your partner, kids or another family member to

name the top 5 things they love about you.

Identify Your Body Challenges 

So this part is not so much fun. We need to take a good, honest, objective look at ourselves.

Remember that there is no bad body shape, just poorly chosen clothing that does nothing to flatter you! They all have their good points as well as some challenges that need to be considered. So don’t be too hard on yourself!

If I was shopping for you I would need your measurements, but in the next part of this book you’ll be able to fit yourself into a category based on the description.

Identify Your Body Challenges 

HourglassWhen we think Hourglass, we think of bombshells like Marilyn Monroe.

Women with somewhat broad shoulders, large breasts, a tiny waist, normal hips and great legs.

This shape is enviable in that there is not much Optical Diversion necessary here. You simply need to look for a balance between the top and the bottom halves by putting an emphasis on the waist.

Pear

The Pear body, which is also the most common body shape, has a nice defined waist, narrow shoulders and larger, rounder hips and bottom.

Also characteristic to the Pear is having a longer torso than leg length which sometimes gives you the appearance of being shorter than you actually are.

Thighs are typically larger as well. The trick here is to play up the waist, which is the smallest area of the body, and optically broaden the shoulders to balance out the curves below. Avoid wearing large boxy tops and jackets. We need to show off that waist!

Apple

The Apple body shape tends to have large breasts, a thick middle with no defined waist, and skinny legs.

Using my theory of Optical Diversion we are going to create the illusion of a waist, play up the décolletage and emphasize your smallest part which is your legs.

What you don’t want to do is to try to cover everything up with ultra-loose clothing sometimes known as “tent dressing”.

Inverted Triangle

If you have an Inverted Triangle body type, you are typically very broad at the shoulders and have narrow hips and legs.

Inverted Triangles may or may not have large breasts or much of a bottom.

What we need to accomplish here is to soften the shoulder and create an illusion of a curvier bottom half.

RectangleA Rectangle shape will basically be straight up and down with no real curves.

The shoulder, waist and hip will all be approximately the same width. Your legs are usually long and lean. This shape is sometimes referred to as the “boy body.”

The challenge here is to use my Optical Diversion theory to create curves at the top and bottom of the body. If you are trying to create the illusion of curves then definitely avoid loose, unstructured clothing.

You know your body type, so the next step is to find pieces that will flatter you, so go out there and shop till you drop! However if you are like many women I work with, shopping can be a chore that is done as quickly and infrequently as possible, and chances are you don’t know the best way to dress for your body type.
