Public Forum Semifinalist – Dian Yu & Joyce Weng and Gowtham Kadiyala & Kartikeya Gullapalli. Lincoln-Douglas Quarterfinal- ist: Nishanth Kadiyala, Evie Kao, Alexander Savitski, Christian Olguin The 7 th & 8 th Grade Lady Rams Cross Country~Competed at the Bellaire/ St Thomas Cross country meet this past weekend. T.H Rogers were represented quite well placing 3 rd in the Navy division and 6 th in the red division. There were 16 teams and 300 girls competing at the meet. Top runners were: Navy Divi- sion: Top runners for Rogers Anh Ho 4 th overall, Leyla Mejia 8 th overall, Amy Jun 21 st overall, Andera Erkal 33 rd overall, and Lizabeth Caballero 35 th overall. Red Division: Hiranya Tennakoon 17 th overall, Riya Keswani 30 th overall, Carys Reyes 34 th overall, Jennifer Mackenize 42 nd overall, and Breanna Pajarillga 45 th overall. T. H. Rogers Volleyball Teams~Played in the Bellaire Tournament this past Saturday. Our 8th grade team played in the Premier division and placed 6th place. Outstanding leadership on and off the court from Jayla Harrison and Jennivie Bui. Special kudos to Mrs. Bui and Ms. Mouton for stepping up and coaching the girls. Our 7th grade team played in the Classic division and placed 7th place. Our team displayed strong improvements and finish strong by winning the last set. Excellent serving by Grace Li and Myar Jaber in the last set was the difference. Overall steady play by Olivia Petrosky and Pari Agarwal thru-out the tournament. T. H. Rogers Is Pleased To Announce~The return of the Houston Real Men Read (HRMR) program! HRMR is a mentoring program in which men from the Houston community commit one hour a month to read to our students in 1 st and 2 nd grade classes. T. H. Rogers is calling all male community members who are interested in serving in this great capacity. The program will offi- cially kick off in November and extend through May with one reading per month. Men who are interested are encouraged to complete the application, which can be found on the school website. The deadline to submit an application is Friday, October 27 th . Questions or concerns regarding HRMR may be directed to Ms. Winn at [email protected]. Parents Are Partners~We’re excited to kick off the school year with our first Parents are Partners gathering! This parent education program is for all T. H. Rogers elementary par- ents. The first meeting will focus on managing allergies in children and will feature Amanda Oceguera from HISD’s Food Services Department. We will discuss pertinent information and considerations that should be made as we transition into becoming a nut-free campus. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 12 th at 9:00 a.m., immediately after our monthly PTO meeting in the upstairs library. Sign language and Spanish interpret- ers will attend these meetings to provide translation services for our parents. We hope to see you there! T.H. Rogers se Enorgullece al Anunciar – El regreso del Programa Houston Real Men Read (HRMR)! HRMR es un programa de tutoría en la cual hombres de la comunidad de Houston se comprometen a leer una hora al mes a nuestros alumnos de 1ro & 2do grado. T.H. Rogers les extiende una llamada a todos los barones de nuestra comunidad que están interesados en servir en esta gran capacidad. El programa empezará oficialmente en Noviembre y se extenderá hasta Mayo con solo una lectura al mes. Hombres interesados favor de llenar la solicitud, la cual puede ser encontrada en la página de internet de la escuela. La fecha límite para entregar las aplicaciones es Viernes 27 de Octubre. ¡Padres Son Socios-Estamos emocionados por empezar nuestro nuevo año escolar con la primera reunión de Padres Son Socios! Este programa de educación para padres es para todos los padres de primaria. La primera junta se enfocará en manejar alergias de nuestros hijos con una presentación de Amanda Oceguera del Departamento de Servicios de Comida de HISD. Hablaremos sobre información pertinente y consideraciones que deberán ser tomadas en nuestra transición para convertirnos en una escuela libres de frutos secos (nueces, cacahuates, etc.) La junta se llevará acabo el Jueves 12 de Octubre a las 9am, inmediatamente después de nuestra junta mensual de PTO en la librería del segundo piso. Intérpretes de señas y español atenderán estas juntas para la ayuda de nuestros padres. ¡Esperamos verlos allí!

Las Niñas Rams de 7 º & 8 º Equipo de Campo Atravieso–compitieron en la Pista de Campo Traviesa de Bellaire/St. Thomas este fin de semana pasado. T. H. Rogers fueron representados muy bien tomando el 3r lugar en la división del Navy y 6º lugar en la división roja. Hubo 16 equipos y 300 niñas compitiendo en la pista. Mejores Corredores fueron:

Equipos de Volibol de T.H. Rogers – Jugaron en el Torneo de Bellaire este Sabado pasado. Nuestro equipo de 8o grado jugo en la Division Primier y se lluevaron el 6o lugar. Liderazgo Espectacular dentro y fuera de la cancha fueron demostrados por Jayla Harrison y Jennivie Bui. Men-ciones especiales a Mrs. Bui y Ms. Mouton por entrenar a las ninas. Nues-tro equipo de 7o jugo en la Division Clasica y se lluevaron el 7o lugar. Nuestro equipo demostró un mejoramiento fuerte y terminaron ganando el último partido.
