Where is your happy place?

Make notes on your sheet to help you with

your ideas about where your happy

place is.

Your happy place will be somewhere

different to other children’s. It should

be unique and important to you so don’t worry about what other children are writing down.

Your Happy Place

When you are feeling sad, worried, angry or lonely, thinking about things that make you happy can help.

What things make you happy?

Where is your favourite place?For example, it could be somewhere you go on a day trip, somewhere in your house or in someone else’s house like a

friend’s or a grandparent’s.

It should be a place that helps you to feel calm and relaxed –probably somewhere with happy memories.

When you think of your happy place, who is with you?

For example, it could be your best friend, a member of your family, a carer or a teacher.

What do you have with you in your happy place?

For example, a special toy, a favourite food, a special picture or a keep sake.

When you are in your happy place, how does your body feel?

When you are in your happy place, how does your mind/brain feel?

What is it about your happy place that stops you feeling sad or worried?

For example, ‘I love the people that are there and they make me laugh.’

Task: Write a description of your happy place.

Success Criteria:

• I can use the senses to describe my surroundings.

• I can use expanded noun phrases to develop my descriptions.

• I can use conjunctions to extend my sentences.

Challenge: Can you use any figurative language in your description?
