Aquatic Plants’ Natural Roots
One of Nature’s perfect substrate
Active transport of complex molecules and nutrients between the plant and
the biofilm, serves best whenhormones, pharma residues and
cosmetics needed to be degraded
3 - 5 cm thickfilamentous biofilm

STOWA, Verkenning Zuiverend Kassen, Rapport 2017-45
A concept design by Biopolus in cooperation with VolkerWessels for the waterboard HHNK to replace an existing 75,000
person equivalent, 11,000 m3/d capacity municipal sewage treatment plant in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, with an odor-
free and architecturally pleasing building based on the Biopolus MNR (Metabolic Network Bioreactor) Technology, freeing up
94% of the 3.3-hectare area for further development. The value of the freed up land is estimated as 3x the investment cost
of the new facility

HIGH RETURN BUSINESS
URBAN CIRCULARITY INNOVATOR
The Ellen MacArthur Foundation is the most
influential organization in the world in the
promotion of the Circular Economy. Its highly
prestigious CE100 elite club represents the most
circular enterprises and organizations , including
such names as Google and Apple.
Biopolus has been invited to this group of
companies as one of the top emerging innovators
in urban circularity, which not only gives us direct
access to information and high level industry
contacts, but it uniquely positions the company in
the water business where water recycling and
resource and energy recovery is at high priority.
BIOPOLUS is also an invited and the first non-
Dutch member of the Circle Economy Foundation
in the Netherlands, the number one urban
circularity hotspot in the world.
UNIQUE POSITIONING
Wastewater
Organic Waste
Phase 1
Phase 2
MODULAR-SCALABLE-EXTENDABLEPHASE 1
Biopolus Hubs are designed as
the highest efficiency wastewater
treatment units which can be
modularly scaled up in capacity
and for water recycling
PHASE 2
Just like adding apps to a smart
phone, Biopolus Hubs designed as
a platform technology to add
additional modules to recover
energy, materials and to convert
wastewater and organic wastes
into useable products
