CASE STUDY

First aid can save lives and prevent minor injuries becoming major ones. First aid at work covers the arrangements that need to be made to manage injuries or illness suffered at work. Employers have a legal duty to make arrangements to ensure their employees and anyone affected by their work receives immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. It doesn’t matter whether the injury or illness is caused by the work they do. What is important is that they receive immediate attention and that an ambulance is called in serious cases.

Whitehorse Safety will ensure that employers fully understand their responsibilities under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order which places a duty on the employer or occupier of business or industrial premises to carry out a fire risk assessment.

Whitehorse Safety will achieve this by training your staff in the process of Fire Risk Assessments as we believe your own staff are best placed to maintain fire safety precautions and understand and address the risk that fire represents to those working there or visiting. Having your own staff trained to undertake fire assessments has two major benefits: it is extremely cost effective and ensures you have your own competent person on site.

CASE STUDY

Fire can result in significant losses for businesses in terms of lost production, market share and customer goodwill. Even a minor fire can mean very large losses for individual firms.

In addition, fires resulting in closure could have significant effects on staff. When you consider the average cost of a fire in a commercial building is estimated at £43,800 it makes good sense to get your fire risk assessment done.

Whitehorse Safety provides expert event medical support across Dorset and the Southern Counties covering a broad range of events from equestrian shows to motor cross events.

At Whitehorse Safety we pride ourselves on providing a comprehensive and professional service to event organisers to ensure you meet your requirements under health & safety. We try and tailor our service to the specific needs of your event, leaving you secure in the knowledge that, should the worst happen, you have the support of a highly trained team ready to come to the aid of your staff and visitors.

With our comprehensive range of fully qualified staff and fully equipped 4x4 vehicles and front line ambulances we can supply all levels of medical cover from one First Aider to Paramedic support, ensuring that event attendees receive professional medical attention quickly.

CASE STUDY

The HSE Event safety guide states that event organisers are responsible to ensure that medical, ambulance and first-aid assistance, as appropriate, are available to all those involved in an event. They also need to minimise the effects of an event on the healthcare provision for the local population and, wherever possible, reduce its impact on the local NHS facilities and ambulance service.

CASE STUDYEvery year the RNLI have to respond to 8000 or so incidents around our coasts, many of which could have been prevented by crews taking simple safety precautions. Around half of these callouts are to pleasure craft. Whitehorse believes that by getting some basic sea safety training you can greatly reduce the risk of danger to yourself and others at sea. Being in charge of a craft at sea means taking responsibility for your actions. You should ensure you have the knowledge and experience not to put the safety of your crew and others at risk. You and your crew should possess sufficient skills in basic boat handling, rules of the road, navigation, safety equipment, emergency procedures, first aid and maintenance of both craft and engine.

Our courses are designed for corporate organisations and private individuals to ensure that company-wide and personal objectives are successfully achieved.

A structured team building event gives you the chance to develop an effective and cohesive team where negative dynamics are reversed and the focus is on building stronger bonds and achieving the overall company vision.

We also know the classroom is not the place to improve leadership, management or team working abilities, although it has its place. Research tells us that we will remember 10% of what we learn in a lecture and more than 75% by doing something practical. This is why Whitehorse Leadership has created a woodland training camp where the emphasis is on mental agility and not physical ability.

All of our training courses are tailored specifically to your requirement, focusing on the existing team dynamics and areas that need to be addressed.

IMPERIAL TOBACCO &  BLACKBEARD’S TREASURE

Imperial Tobacco has enjoyed two successful team building events with the Whitehorse Leadership Training ‘Hunt for Blackbeard’s Treasure’ Package. The hunt for Blackbeard’s Treasure requires focused and cohesive teamwork to complete some serious practical tasks. Clues to Blackbeard’s treasure location are given out with the completion of each task. Once the treasure was found the Imperial Tobacco team went on to enjoy a relaxing evening at a local luxury hotel where they carried on the event with a champagne tasting evening. This package is available as a one day or an overnight event.

Woodland Learning

Located in a stunning and naturallybeautiful forest environment theWhitehorse Woodland School bringspeople and nature together safely through education and exploration.

We offer a broad range of nature-inspired sessions including; educational nature walks, tailored creative activities and interactive construction sessions for young children. Courses for older children work towards improving their key skills in communication, working with others and problem solving by undertaking our team development sessions.

The importance of the natural environment and its value as an alternative setting for learning are at the heart of the Whitehorse Woodland School offering. The focus of our courses is to develop the first hand thrill of exploration in the natural world and the deep knowledge that ensues.

We run a range of full day or half day woodland learning sessions including: creative sessions using natural woodland materials, bug hunting and learning about Dorset's indigenous insects and animals, treasure hunts linked to team building around the woodland area and den building sessions. All of these are served up with a good helping of fun!

LEARNING OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM MANIFESTO

All young people should have regular and meaningful learning experiences, which are focused and enjoyable. They should have well-planned activities, which provide a continuing and progressive programme from 0 to 19 and allow them to participate in ways that are appropriate to their needs. We believe that every young person should experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances.

Whitehorse Testimonials"Too often management training is delivered by people who seem to lack many of the skills they are trying to instil in others. This is not true of Whitehorse's team: their calm, competence and confidence was evident from the moment we met them. The credibility of the trainers created an immediate sense of trust in our trainees, and a desire to learn from people who obviously knew what they were talking about." A Cook - MD
