harming theirWorkers, their communities and the environment, nor do they need to be concerned with the risk of rising costs demanded by the bio-hazardous waste service providers. The OZONATOR is an immediate, on-site, cost effective and environmentally sustainable method of dealing with medical and bio-hazardous waste.

The OZONATOR technology is just the first of many technologies that Ozonator Industries will be commercializing over the next few years, all of which will prove to be both revolutionary in design and global in need.

OZONATOR INDUSTRY ZA (PTY) LTD. HOLDS EXCLUSIVITY TO ALL PRODUCTS OF THE OZONATOR NG BRAND IN AFRICA!

TECHNOLOGY DESCRIPTION:

The OZONATOR is designed to treat bio-hazardous and regulated medical wastes using ozone as the sterilizing agent. The treatment can be carried out on-site as well as off-site.

The OZONATOR technology is the new NG-3000 model capable of processing up to 400 kg of waste every twenty minutes (1200 kg per hour) and can operate on a continuous basis 24 hours per day – 7 days per week with about one hour per week for service and cleaning. The waste is shredded with up to 90% reduction in volume and treated with a high concentration of ozone (sterilized) and then compacted into a stainless steel transport bin for disposal at landfill as general waste (daily cover) or the treated waste can be used as fuel in a WTE (waste-to-energy) facility. (CV 36.4 MJ/kg)

The OZONATOR NG-3000 technology has “zero emissions”. The Ozone is produced from oxygen that is extracted from the ambient air and any residual ozone is converted back to oxygen.

Waste is treated at room temperature. There is no heat, no steam, no chemicals, no fuels, no residue and no by-product of the process.

The process (NG-3000 technology) requires electrical power at less than 12 kWh per cycle, a small amount of water (0.5 liters) and compressed air to sterilize up to 400 kg of biohazard waste per twenty minute cycle.

Operating cost is less than USD $0,004/ R0.25 per kilogram of waste treated!

Ozone treatment is the most cost effective and sustainable technology available and has zero emissions.

OZONE:

OZONE is a form of oxygen, consisting of three oxygen molecules (O3). Unlike diatomic oxygen (O2 the breathable oxygen present in the atmosphere), ozone is very unstable, and decays back into O2 within about30 minutes under normal atmospheric conditions.

OZONE is a powerful oxidizing agent. OZONE is effective to kill essentially all pathogens including bacteria, fungi, viruses, as well as prions. OZONE is of particular value as a disinfectant, as it is able to promote the oxidation of carbon-carbon double bonds (C=C). This type of bond is found in many biological molecules, and in other types of organic compounds, most notably pharmaceuticals.

• Ozone in use as a sterilizing agent for over 100 years• Proven operational safety and efficacy• Kills all known pathogens• Does not promote resistance• Leaves no residues• Nature’s most effective and efficient bactericides and fungicides• OZONATOR technology is certified 6 log10 reduction using ozone• Ozone converts back to oxygen naturally• Ozone is 1.66 times heavier than air• Standard biological indicators used for regular testing and verification

Ozone has the ability to diffuse rapidly through cell walls and interfere with cellular respiration process. In addition, decomposition of ozone in water or in contact with water vapour generates hydroxyl radicals (•OH), which may also play an important role in disinfection by ozone. This is because OH-radical is one of the most powerful oxidants and reacts indiscriminately with nearly all organic compounds.

The Ozonator operates under atmospheric pressure and at room temperature. The equipment shreds biomedical waste to small pieces, loads it into the treatment chamber, and treats it with ozone for a period of900 seconds. The concentration of ozone in the treatment chamber is between 5500 and 9500 parts per million (ppm).

Additionally, water vapor in the presence of ozone will form hydroxyl radicals to support the sterilization of the waste, specifically destroying oxidative cells and red blood cells.

The efficacy testing results of medical waste treatment by the Ozonator using Bacillus atrophaeus as a surrogate test organism were found to support the performance claim.

The waste is finely shredded and treated with ozone. The volume of waste is reduced by up to 90% The finished product is not discernible as medical or bio-hazardous waste. The waste is safe and ready for landfill. Treated waste makes ideal daily cover at landfill sites

The treated waste can be sent directly to landfill as general waste or used as fuel in a waste to energy facilities and has a calorific value of 36.4 MJ/kg as measured at Cardiff University in Wales.

APPLICATION FOR THE OZONATOR TECHNOLOGY:

• Hospitals• Nursing Homes• Universities• Laboratories• Medical & Dental Facilities• Research Facilities• Cruise Ships and Vessels• Resorts and Hotels• Remote Communities• Transfer Stations MSW• Airports & Terminals• Military Facilities• Correctional Facilities• Industry & Commercial Operations• Documents and General waste• Border protection (international and quarantined waste)

The OZONATOR uses a small amount of water (2 liters per hour), electricity (36 kWh per hour) and a unique patented technology using ozone to sterilize up to 400 kg [880 lbs.] of bio-hazard waste per cycle and up to 1200 kg [2640 lbs.] per hour. The OZONATOR can be operated 24 hours per day and seven days per week. The OZONATOR is designed for a twenty plus (20+) year service life resulting in a very low life-cycle cost.

OZONATOR NG-1000 PERFORMANCE CLAIM EVALUATION - ETV Certification

The efficacy of the Ozonator NG-1000 for treating bio-hazardous and regulated medical wastes has been tested employing a surrogate bacterium, Bacillus subtilus (B.atrophaeus), and a surrogate waste composed of10% glass/sharp, 30% plastic, 20% paper, 20% cloth/woven materials, and 20% liquids/organics. The waste was shredded, loaded into the treatment chamber and ozonated for 900 seconds (or 15 minutes).

The ozone concentration in the treatment chamber ranged from 4000 to 8000 ppm; temperature ranged between 17 to 24 °C; and humidity was between 70 and 100 per cent. Test results show the Ozonator NG-1000 was able to kill B.subtilus and reduce its viability by at least 6 orders of magnitude or 6 log10 (99.9999 %) reduction.

2014 North American Biohazardous Waste Treatment Technology InnovationLeadership Award

BEST PRACTICES RESEARCH

Frost & Sullivan’s Global Research PlatformFrost & Sullivan is in its 50th year in business with a global research organization of 1,800 analysts and consultants who monitor more than 300 industries and 250,000 companies. The company’s research philosophy originates with the CEO’s360-Degree Perspective™, which serves as the foundation of its TEAM Research™ methodology. This unique approach enables us to determine how best-in-class companies worldwide manage growth, innovation and leadership. Based on the findings of this Best Practices research, Frost & Sullivan is proud to present the 2014 North American Technology Innovation Leadership Award in Biohazardous Waste Treatment to Ozonator Industries.

Significance of the Technology Innovation Leadership AwardKey Industry Challenges Addressed by Superior OZONATOR TechnologyBiohazardous wastes need to be handled, treated, and disposed of in a very safe manner in order to avoid possible hazards. Frost & Sullivan notes that this waste clearly requires an efficient, eco- friendly and cost-effective treatment technology. Treating biohazardous waste using ozone is considered to be the safest approach among all available alternatives. However, before the ozone- based biohazardous waste treatment technology can be adopted on a wider scale commercially, Frost & Sullivan points out the important industry challenges below.

Lack of treatment efficiency:Existing biohazardous waste treatment technologies perform rather inefficiently, and after treatment, large amounts of residue or by-product are produced, which need to be safely disposed of in a landfill. However, as land availability for landfills is decreasing rapidly, an efficient technology that can maximize the volume reduction of biohazardous waste needs to be identified.

High energy requirement and operating cost:Commonly adopted biohazardous waste treatment technologies, such as incineration, autoclaving, and so on, are highly energy-intensive. The high-energy requirement increases the cost of operation quite significantly. Moreover, in order to address the challenge of global energy scarcity, a

A cleaner, safer environment

www.ozonatorindustries.com

[Type text]

reduction in energy requirements is necessary to establish the future sustainability of a biohazardous waste treatment technology.

Lack of sustainability:Frost & Sullivan points out that the existing biohazardous waste treatment technologies are found to be non-sustainable from an environmental point of view. As most of these technologies work in a higher temperature range, and various waste gases are generated and emitted into the atmosphere from these systems, the sustainability of these technologies is often questionable. Moreover, many chemical treatment technologies involve the usage of toxic and hazardous chemicals, which require sufficient treatment before they can be finally discharged into the environment.

Frost & Sullivan firmly believes that the biohazardous waste treatment technology developed by Ozonator Industries has successfully addressed the above challenges. This technology employs the usage of ozone to safely treat biohazardous waste in an energy efficient and cost-effective manner. This zero-emission system completely eliminates the requirement of by-product or residue disposal. As such, the challenge of land availability and environmental sustainability is efficiently addressed by this innovation.

Key Benchmarking Criteria for Technology Innovation Leadership AwardFor the Technology Innovation Leadership Award, the following criteria were used to benchmarkOzonator Industries' performance against key competitors:

• Uniqueness of Technology• Impact on New Products/Applications• Impact on Functionality• Impact on Customer Value• Relevance of Innovation to Industry

Decision Support Matrix and Measurement CriteriaTo support its evaluation of best practices across multiple business performance categories, Frost & Sullivan employs a customized Decision Support Matrix (DSM). The DSM is an analytical tool that compares companies’ performance relative to each other with an integration of quantitative and qualitative metrics. The DSM features criteria unique to each Award category and ranks importance by assigning weights to each criterion. The relative weighting reflects current market conditions and illustrates the associated importance of each criterion according to Frost & Sullivan. Fundamentally, each DSM is distinct for each market and Award category. The DSM allows our research and

A cleaner, safer environment

www.ozonatorindustries.com

[Type text]

consulting teams to objectively analyze each company's performance on each criterion relative to its top competitors and assign performance ratings on that basis. The DSM follows a 10-point scale that allows for nuances in performance evaluation; ratings guidelines are shown in Chart 1.

Chart 1: Performance-Based Ratings for Decision Support Matrix This exercise encompasses all criteria, leading to a weighted average ranking of each company. Researchers can then easily identify the company with the highest ranking. As a final step, the research team confirms the veracity of the model by ensuring that small changes to the ratings for a specific criterion do not lead to a significant change in the overall relative rankings of the companies.

Best Practice Award Analysis for Ozonator IndustriesThe Decision Support Matrix, shown in Chart 3, illustrates the relative importance of each criterion for the Technology Innovation Leadership Award and the ratings for each company under evaluation. To remain unbiased while also protecting the interests of the other organizations reviewed, we have chosen to refer to the other key players as Competitor 1 and Competitor 2.

Criterion 1: Uniqueness of TechnologyThe biohazardous waste treatment technology developed by Ozonator Industries extracts oxygen from the ambient air and converts it to ozone with the help of a plasma ozone generator. This ozone is used to treat biohazardous waste in a very safe manner. This treatment is done at room temperature, and no steam, heat, or by-products are produced from this system during the operation. After the treatment, the residual ozone is automatically converted back into oxygen.Frost & Sullivan appreciates the fact that this system is a completely zero-emission system. With thehelp of this technology, more than a 90% volume reduction of biohazardous waste can be achieved. Moreover, this efficient technology can easily treat any kind of biohazardous waste (except large metal wastes).

Criterion 2: Impact on New Products/ApplicationsOzonator’s biohazardous waste treatment system is quite efficient in operation and can easily treat approximately 1200 kgs of biohazardous waste per hour. This system is a standalone system with a considerably smaller footprint and consists of no boiler or stacks, which offers increased ease of operation. This system can efficiently run around the clock, without any skilled labor or maintenance. The OZONATOR technology is ideally suited for quarantined waste from airports, border security and prisons, etc.

Criterion 3: Impact on FunctionalityOzonator’s biohazardous waste treatment system is extremely energy efficient and requires only 36 kWh of electricity to treat 1,200 kgs of biohazardous waste. The energy requirement is significantly less than that of the other existing biohazardous waste treatment systems available in the market. This system is completely automated, and system performance is automatically monitored. It is simple to operate, requiring very little training for operation. Moreover, as this system uses no chemicals, and there are no emissions, it can be consideredextremely safe and environmentally sustainable.

Criterion 4: Impact on Customer ValueThe operating cost of Ozonator’s biohazardous waste treatment system only involves the cost of energy. The energy cost of this system is approximately $3.60 per hour of operation, which Frost & Sullivan independent analysis confirms is considerably lower than that of the other competing technologies. Moreover, due to the high-volume reduction efficiency, the amount of residue

A cleaner, safer environment

www.ozonatorindustries.com

[Type text]

produced after treatment is very little. This residue can be further used as a raw material for energy production through a waste-gasifier. The company offers this system in different sizes and capacities. As such, customers have the freedom to select a system capacity according to their requirements. A minimum requirement of skilled labor and maintenance ensures the considerably low operational and maintenance costs of this system.

Criterion 5: Relevance of Innovation to IndustryThis biohazardous waste treatment technology has already been patented by Ozonator Industries. The company has also developed a presence in various important global markets. Moreover, through its continuous in-house research and development, the company is continually improving the system’s performance. This system is the only globally approved system for treatment of anatomical wastes. Among all of the available biohazardous waste treatment systems independently evaluated by Frost & Sullivan, the Ozonator system is clearly accepted as the safest and most efficient solution.

ConclusionIt is daunting to develop an efficient and sustainable biohazardous waste treatment technology. Frost & Sullivan feels that the ability to treat biohazardous waste energy efficiently and cost effectively gives the Ozonator technology a significant advantage over the other existing competing technologies. This zero-emission technology effectively addresses important industry challenges, such as lack of treatment efficiency and environmental sustainability, as well as high energy and operational costs. Hence, this technology can be considered one of the most important biohazardous waste treatment technologies for the future

Current Philippines/ Malaysia Project Roll-out!

The proposal for Malaysia is for a centralized medical waste processing facility using the NG-3000 model OZONATOR where waste is brought in from several sources to be sterilized.  The proposal in the Philippines is to have multiple NG-550 model OZONATOR located at strategic locations (hospitals) to process (all) waste from these facilities at source thereby reducing transport costs and liability for the movement of un-treated waste by roadway. The volume reduction of up to 90% will significantly reduce the number of truckloads of waste on highways. The first phase of the plan is to install five (5) NG-550 units in the Manila vicinity. These units will replace the current autoclave unit located at the Lung Centre Hospital in Manila.  Both applications are working towards a waste to energy (WTE) plant, utilizing the treated and sterilized waste as a valuable source of fuel with a calorific value of 36.4 MJ/kg as documented by the testing results from Cardiff University in Wales. This reduces the amount of waste going to landfill by more than 95 percent.  In both cases, it is necessary to review with the hospitals what types of waste are to be processed. The processing system (OZONATOR) is for medical and bio-hazard waste only. Hazardous waste must be processed in a hazardous waste stream. This would include items like radioactive waste, acids, compressed gas cylinders, flammable liquids, mercury and restricted pharmaceuticals.

Also things like titanium joints should not be placed in the waste steam for the OZONATOR NG technology due to damage to the shredder. Additionally, activated charcoal filters etc. should not be placed in the OZONATOR units.

An important note here is the ETV certifications for the OZONATOR NG technology.  In the Philippines, it would have been necessary to have a unit installed in the Philippines for “proof of concept” to gain acceptance. Because we have the ETV verification, it is only necessary for the Ministry of Environment (MOE) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to conduct a desk top review of the documents and testing result to approve the OZONATOR in the Philippines.  We are expecting to commission our first NG-3000 in Malaysia in August and the first of several NG-550 model units in the Philippines by October. Additional units are scheduled for Sweden, California, Middle East and several other locations before year end.
