There was a telling moment yesterday as president obama gathered heads of state and other influentialofficials from 47 nations. When chinese president hu ±jin-tao approached, president obama extended hishand and then bowed«as if in deference to his guest«and why not«..hu jin tao is mr. Obama¶s personal

banker«.his government now holding the bulk of uncle sam¶s paper..at last report 889 billion dollars in u-streasury securities«.

President obama does not have a printing press in the white house basement«and there is no cash filledvault anywhere in the bowels of capitol hill«..the money that¶s being spent by this president and the

democrat led congress«.doesn¶t exist«..it¶s mostly on credit«.and the numbers are staggering«right

now«..the national debt is approaching 13 trillion dollars«..and the cost of the interest on that borrowedmoney«manageable now«we¶re told could rise fast«.

If bond rates rise only modestly---by 2020²experts tell u-s-a today the government will have to spend 900billion dollars a year«roughly 100 percent of the u-s economy to service that debt«money that will flow into

the treasuries of china«japan and dozens of other nations holding u-s securites«.without some drasticsolution---there will be no money for defense---education«care for veterans«highways or anything else«.if 

that doesn¶t register on your concern meter this might«.know who the number 3 holder of american debtis«.opec«.number 7 on the list«.a consortium of caribbean banks«..so it¶s not beyond the realm of 

possibility that drug dealers and gangsters who put their cash in these off shore accounts are laundering itin t bills«.and we¶ll be paying them just like we¶ll be paying the communist chinese«o-k---why worry about

predictions 10 years down the road«because things are scary right now«.

Obama administration officials will tell you the current debt is under control but the truth is«the currentfederal budget gap..an estimated 1 point 5 trillion dollars..is about the size of the entire 1995 federal

budget«.of course back then the republicans ran congress«.

All of this is helping to fuel the tea party movement«.which congressional leaders like harry reid seem toscoff at----the tea partiers will rally on thursday«.april 15th the traditional tax recoking day«.at the

washington monument«.they¶ll try to reach congress and they¶ll also try to reach a generation of youngamericans who long after the rest of us are retired«.will be sending who knows how many of their hard

earned dollars to washington to pay down«or service the staggering debt«.as david walker the former u-scontroller general warned one college audience in maryland«.congress is not your friend«.as he put

it..´Things are being done to you«not for you´«

There is some hope«and it rests with erskine bowles the former white house chief of staff and former republican senator alan simpson«they¶re co chairing a bi partisan committee looking into ways to solve the

nations money problems«.both warn the steps may be painful
