What are some of God’s characteristics?

God is a mystery (Incomprehensible)God is a personal being. (Not an impersonal

force.)God is immaterial, omnipresent (present

everywhere), omnipotent (all powerful), omniscient (all-knowing), omnibenevolent (all goodness), immutable (unchanging), sovereign (supreme in authority).

God is eternal, infinite (without beginning or end)

God is perfect.

God and Us

Created by God in God’s own image and likeness every human being possesses a spiritual soul, intellect and free will, and is destined for God and for eternal life.

God is always with us. For he himself has said ‘I will never leave

you or forsake you.’Hebrews 13:5. God is our protector. 

“Our soul waits for the Lord. He is our help and our shield.” Psalm 33:20  

God knows us, better than we know ourselves.  

“O Lord you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and rise up. You discern my thoughts from far away.”  Psalm 139: 1,2.

 

God never changes."I the Lord do not change” Malachi 3:6. 

God is faithful. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3: 5 – 6

God is in charge.For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

GOD IS TRUTH

God is TRUTH itself, whose words cannot deceive. This is why one can abandon oneself in full trust to the truth and faithfulness of God’s word in all things.

God is truthful when God reveals himself.

“GOD IS LOVE” 1 Jn. 4:16

God is love. God’s very being is love.

God created us out of love. God’s single motive is love.

We are called to be like God in loving God and our fellow human beings.

God’s perfect plan…

To fulfil God’s perfect plan God made man.

To restore God’s perfect plan God became man.

1.  He came to save us from our sins. 2.  He came so that we might know God’s love. 3.  He came to be our model of holiness. 4.  He became man in order that we could share in His divine nature. C. S. Lewis said it well: "The Son of God became a man that men might become sons of God." God became a man so that you might become God's child.Now that is something worth celebrating!

God and Us

We know our true human calling through Jesus Christ who became man to fully disclose humankind to itself and unfold its noble calling by revealing the Father and the Father’s love.

Jesus is the Son of God. Because Jesus is God and came among us as a human being, we then state that Jesus has two natures: divine and human.

Therefore, Christians believe that Jesus is both God and man at the same time.

Jesus is the central figure of Christianity. 

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (John 3:16 – 17)

Two thousand years after he walked the earth, Jesus of Nazareth remains one of those most talked-about and influential people who has ever lived.

He has more than 2 billion followers in the world today of whom more than 50% are Catholic.

People from all walks of life have studied his life, character and teachings. He has been quoted, misquoted, honoured and insulted, worshipped and argued over.

Most of all, He is loved.

Jesus Today

We, His Church, are the face of Jesus in the world today.

It is how we as Christians live our lives as followers of Jesus who makes His presence real amidst the darkness of our days and times.
