WHY DO HUMANS KEEP PETS?
• From a housekeeping point of view, a pet is a kind of ornament , not only is it very aesthetically pleasing, it moves around the home , it is warm and smooth to the touch, and it responds to our presence and keeps us company!
Wouldn't anyone want a partner who worshipped them, always welcomed them
home enthusiastically, ate gratefully at every meal, was content with cheap
outings and presents and gave lifelong loyalty and protection? I read last year that a large number of US women wished they
could marry their dogs!
Several points: 1)I don't own my cat, my cat owns
me. 2)My cat is in many ways a baby substitute. I'm 41 & a spinster, & need to be needed. 3)got the cat
during a very stressful period in my life. It's been proved that stroking an animal lowers your blood pressure.
Some people keep pets because of their physical attractiveness, some for
their playfulness or other unique personalities and
characteristics, while others keep pets for
companionship.
Pets can help their owners relieve stress and loneliness.
When you just got home from a long day of work feeling
exhausted and stressed, there is that tail wager so very happy to see you. When you sit down on the couch and turn on the
TV, there is that little fluffy thing jumps onto your lap
meowing at you.
Pets such as dogs will definitely increase their owners’ chances
for exercise and outdoor activities. Most dog keepers
walk their pets on a daily basis. Thus, both the dog and the
owner get fresh air as well as exercise to build their physical
fitness. Dogs will also boost their owners’ opportunities to
meet and to socialize with other dog owners, thus
enlarging their circle of friends and enriching their lives.
Keeping pets can also increase our sense of responsibility.
Unlike the wild animals, pets depend on their owners for
food and shelter. Parents can take the opportunity to teach
their kids to become more responsible, and more warm hearted if they let the kids to own and to take care of their
own little pets.
• pets help boost their keepers’ self-esteem because pets are not “snobbish” or “prejudiced” against their owners by their social status or their appearance. Whether we are rich or poor, good-looking or “ugly,” overweight or underweight, our pets just do not care. Their unconditional loyalty gives us a sense of satisfaction and pleasure.

• Bulldogs on sale! Yorkie puppies available here! Have you ever wondered where all these cheap puppies for sale in pet stores come from? The answer is that they are produced in factory-like environments known as “puppy mills.” Puppy mills are large-scale dog breeding operations where profit is given priority over the well-being of the dogs. Puppy mills treat dogs like products, not living beings, and usually house them in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions without adequate veterinary care, socialization, or even food and water.
• The cute puppies for sale at your local mall were probably bred from dogs who don’t play outside or get groomed. Puppy mill dogs are typically kept in cages with wire flooring that injures their paws and legs—and cages can be stacked up in columns (which means waste falls on the dogs housed below them).
Breeding dogs at the mills sometimes spend their entire lives outdoors, exposed to the elements—or crammed inside filthy structures. Female dogs usually have little
to no recovery time between bearing litters. When, after a few years, the females
can no longer reproduce or when their breed goes out of “style,” the dogs are often abandoned, shot, or starved until
they eventually die.
