Why Teaching Techniques in Multilingual French Kindergartens are Uniquely Different

The day when pupils are able to understand the language and are able to converse, not only with each other within the class, but also worldwide is the day when they will actually begin their first communication. Children admitted to multilingual education system in French Kindergarten institution often tend to face a difficulty that is unlike the monolingual classrooms.

The difficulties seem to get multiplied when the participants in the class have to converse in a language that they are unfamiliar with. In that case, the problems that arise are widespread and can range from pronunciation issues to vocabulary limitations. Added to this, is the complication of the process, when learners are forced to converse in a language that they are not familiar or comfortable with.

This becomes all the more frustrating when seen from a classroom management standpoint. This is generally observed when pupils in Kindergarten nursery begin to show irritation and begin tuning each other out. That is because of their inability to identify with a particular language, which is stopping them from enjoying a free-flowing communication.

This is what a multilingual education system aims to focus its attention upon. Some of the teaching techniques and strategies that French kindergarten schools are seen to practice in their education system are as follows –

1. Mixing up the language in multiple activities

Communication activities become all the stronger when it is incorporated in education lessons. Some of the activities where multilingual languages can be put to exercise are –

2. Keeping Students Up on Their Toes

Children may often tend to divert back to the language that they are most comfortable with. That is why a multilingual education system aims to keep students up on their toes. For instance, throwing mini-quiz games right after when a student finishes answering a particular question or picking out a student belonging to a different linguistic background to check whether he or she is able to decipher the language or not.

The student might even be asked to repeat, summarize or rephrase the very thing that he had heard from another speaker. This process is called the double-checker.

3. Playing the Linguistic Hot Potato Game

The game is played like this – when a student asks a question to the teacher, the trainer will divert that very same question back to the entire class. This helps the children to further interaction and to prevent other students from tuning out others while they are still talking.Multilingual kindergarten nursery institutions provide learners with a diversified, fun and interactive education. These classes have an education system that makes learning interesting.
