Thousands of startups, SMEs and individual developers worldwide are working out their solutions based on FIWARE Open Source platform components at present.

89 cities from 19 countries in Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific have officially joined the Open & Agile Smart Cities (OASC) initiative, which is promoting the adoption of FIWARE standards and interoperability model.

Industry 4.0 –an IoT-enabled Industrial Internet hyper-connected DataSpace, managing contextual data from different sources– is using industry-friendly Open Source Standard platform components, like the ones FIWARE is offering.

Smart Agribusiness is also using the FIWARE software and hardware, to implement new solutions, adding value throughout all the food value-chain by incorporating context-aware and Big Data management technology.

FIWARE IoT Ready Programme aims to enlarge our open ecosystem, connecting relevant IoT sensors/actuators Producers.

FIWARE ecosystem means a singular and straightforward business opportunity for IoT products:

• It is simple: FIWARE IoT stack handles wellknown IoT protocol standards (HTTP, MQTT, LWM2M/ CoAP, etc) and exposes the simple and homogeneous Context Information NGSI REST API to developers.

• It is flexible: Using a new IoT protocol standard or even a proprietary one? No problem! An easy-to-learn connector library (coded in node.js) to develop your own connector is provided.

• It is Open Source: Therefore, enabling a truly horizontal IoT open ecosystem avoiding developers, companies, technology providers and Smart City platform vendor lock-in.

• It is profitable: So far, developers needed to search for compatible IoT products and find out how to make them work. This programme is providing an answer to thousands of developers, asking for vendors worldwide and within their region, plus specific configuration instructions.

Any IoT standard or proprietary protocol can be connected to FIWARE via the IoT-Agent components. Currently FIWARE IoT is providing IoT-Agents for:

• Ultralight2.0 over HTTP or MQTT• JSON over HTTP or MQTT• OMA-LWM2M over CoAP• Sigfox Cloud

Additionally, any new standard or proprietary protocol might be implemented using this node.js IoT-Agent library:https://github.com/telefonicaid/iotagent-node-lib

SUPPORTED PROTOCOLS & STANDARDS FIWARE IoT stack implements the following well-known standards:

• OMA NGSI9/10: as the northbound API exposed to developers to retrieve IoT (and non-IoT) information and trigger commands.• OMA LWM2M: as one of the southbound IoT Protocol options• MQTT: as one of the southbound IoT Protocol options• IETF CoAP: as the transport layer for OMA LWM2M IoT Agent.• IETF IPv6: Context Broker and UL2.0, MQTT and LWM2 IoT Agents are all IPv6 capable and there are native IPv6 instances in our v6-enabled FIWARE Lab cloud for testing (see link in section above).

• Write an e-mail to [email protected] with cc to [email protected]• We will provide you with the details for an easy self-validation process.• Once a product is validated you will be able to publish in

your own web both the programme logo and the specific instructions to connect your product to the FIWARE ecosystems (based on a template that we will provide as well).

HOW TO JOIN?

FIWARE IoT basic stack is an Open Source software solution aiming to bring Data-level interoperability to the complex salad of standards and protocols in the world of IoT, OpenData, Data Analytics and other related systems today.

FIWARE IoT is able to expose -by means of the Orion Context Broker component- all IoT devices information and commands using the Context Information REST API (NGSI).
