Goals differ across the board, depending on age, income, demographic, etc. However, the common thread amongst goals are to become either happy, healthy, or wise. Or even all three.

This year, however, do not just focus on one goal or ‘resolution’. The common choices are usually ‘lose X pounds’, ‘make X amount of money’, ‘get promoted’, or ‘be happier’. All great goals, and everyone should strive for these improvements, however it is simply not enough. What about all the areas of your life that are so important to you? What about your family and friends? What about your personal development? Don’t these areas deserve to be optimized as we’ll? We think they should.

That is why we created Finding Balance, the goal setting workbook that enables you to live your best life by optimizing and improving all areas of your existence that makes the world around you an enjoyable place to live while you are here. It will allow you to set goals in the six most important facets of your life on a yearly and monthly basis. The core of Finding Balance revolves around your Vision. Prior to setting any goals, you are to create the vision of who you want to become in the next 12 months. How do you want to feel? How do you want others to view you? How do you want to interact with friends and family? This is an exercise to develop the motions of imagining the person you aspire to be. When times are hard, you always have your vision to refer back to.

After you set your vision, the next step is to set your year goals in the 6 predefined calories. Those categories are (in no particular order):1.    Personal Growth

2.    Health

3.    Career

4.    Relationships

5.    Family

6.    Life Purpose

You should be setting 3-5 tangible goals in each category that you can grow up and determine your progress on the goals. For more advice on this, refer to SMART GOALS.

From this point forward, you have your vision of your year, and the foundation of goals to build upon. Each month, you will be tasked with setting goals in the same 6 categories, that will ultimately move the needle on your yearly goals. For example, if your annual goal was to write an ebook, a monthly goal would be write the first chapter. Make sense? At the same time, you must be reflecting on what went well, and what went poorly. This is incredibly important. You cannot learn from your experiences unless you make sure you understand what you were doing to achieve those outcomes, win or lose.
