Why winter is a Great Time to Buy a Home!

Winter is coming quickly in California, and if you are looking to buy a new home, it is a great time to do so. Summer and spring are normally a seller’s market because the weather is nicer, families with children would rather move when school is out, and the yards and landscaping looks their best. Because of this, winter is a great time to buy!Most homes that are listed for sale in the winter bring motivated sellers. Because the summer and spring months are better for sellers, those listing in the winter months most likely need to sell their homes due to relocation or other immediate reason.

There is also less competition in the winter months. Fewer people are looking to purchase in the winter, which leaves more room for negotiations. This can mean purchasing a home for a lower price with more inclusions and better terms. The selection of available homes may be less, but with fewer options, your decision may be easier to make. If you have 100 homes to choose from, your decision is harder than if you only have 20 to choose from.

Rainy winter is also a good time to see if a home has a proper heating system, if it is drafty, or if the roof leaks. These are things that cannot be seen during the drier summer and spring months: sometimes the winter brings out the best or the worst in a home.
