Commodores Report
Dear Fellow Members:
The month of April really flew by. We were all busy working and
celebrating between the Oyster Roast, Casino Night, Opening Dock
Tales, and the First Mates Nautical Auction. I just can’t thank all our
Bridge, Board, Committees members, First Mates, and Events Staff
enough. Everything we planned folks stepped up big time; not to
mention ALL our members who come out and support these events! I
am always pleased and THANKFUL to see the turn out and efforts from
our membership!
Looking ahead at May we have a lot going on. As you know, we are
now open weekends at Dock Tales and are working on extending our
hours as we head toward Memorial Day. Please check our website for
updated times and menu items. The fuel is available and there’s growing

activity on the docks. Members are getting their boats ready for the
season and it’s time to be on the river. Spring is in the air!
Couple of things to mention. SIYC has their opening day May 20-21st if
anyone is interested in traveling across the bay. I am planning on
attending both days.
The following weekend is our Opening Day Celebration. Please come
down and support our club. We will have lots of fun activities, great
food, and music on lawn.
The folks at Redmen have been very kind to us this year. Thank you
Bobby Leath and your directors. It’s truly been a pleasure working along
with your organization. Thank you Dave Barry and AFD for donating
the Casino Night over to WYC. We could not have had the success and
participation without all three of our organizations working together!!!
Happy Boating Season!
Your Commodore,
Mr. Ray

Rear Commodores Report
Greetings from the Rear Commodore!
As we continue to develop our staff and operation of Dock Tales and the
food service I want to say to you, the members, we appreciate your
patience for any inconveniences you have experienced. I feel within a
week or so we will be able to establish consistent and appropriate hours
for both Dock Tales and its food support service....The Galley. With
recently having 2 events off-property involving food service it has been
rough on Clay and what little staff he had to keep both the Galley
operating and manage those very successful events. I do believe I can
see some light ahead as summer approaches for smoother sailing. We
are determined to provide our members with as many of the services you
enjoyed before the fire. You'll probably see this in another report, but
I'll repeat it here, we will have a top of the line mobile restroom facility
on the property within a couple of weeks. In addition, when Dock Tales
is operating, there is a bathroom in the office trailer that is available for
your use. Please keep tuned to our website and watch for our periodic
events that will provide Dock Tales and Galley hours as well as the food
items available.
Thanks,
Tom
First Mates Report
I do not even know where to start except to say that The First Mates
broke records this month! The Nautical Auction was a huge success
bringing in well over $11,000 and the Bakeless Bake Sale over $5,500!
The First Mates worked tirelessly preparing for the auction, hawking
donations from Salisbury to Ocean City, making baskets, setting and
moving tables, choosing menus, flower arrangements, etc. Our hard
work paid off as the event was a huge success; so much so we ran out of
time and have items left over. Thank you to Scott McCurdy, all the
members and their guests for your support and the huge turnout, Clay
and Vinnie for their cuisine. There are always a few members who
donate generously every year, Dick, Scott, Danialle, Laura, Avery,
Nancy, etc. if I forgot anyone, I am apologize, so many donations this
year…. thank you.
We owe Redmen’s a big thank you once again for hosting our event.
They have not only been generous but kind to all of us. Try to remember
to join them at their fundraiser Saturday, May 6, for their Spaghetti
dinner or make a small donation.
The Bakeless Bake Sale was an idea from The First Mates long ago,
which has proven successful then and was resurrected during Hurricane
Sandy and once again this year. Our members are very loyal and
generous when it comes to their Club and they do us proud. It is an
honor for all of us to work with you. The winners were as follows:
$100 Gift Card to EVO/Sobo’s/Red Roost – Rick & Tammy Lawson,
two Smith Island Cakes – David Orem and Bill Ehinger. The First
Mates decided to do three prizes due to your very generous donations.
Thank you Classic Cakes for donating the cakes.
May brings our first Poker Run of the season and as always, we are
looking for couples, two people, friends, etc. to man the docks for our
preferred four stops where you will provide the obligatory alcoholic
shots. So, load up your boats and coolers and enjoy the day on the
Wicomico River. We have Front Page news ready to follow with music
on the lawn where Dock Tales will provide refreshments and the Galley
will provide food. p.s. Bring your lawn chairs.
Again, I have to thank my core First Mates who are always there to work
every event, Debbie, Diane, Benita, Nancy and Laura – it takes a village
to do our job.

MARCH GAS GOSSIP
WE HAVE FUEL (again)
Yes, we have fuel again. We are up and running almost normal.
There is one little glitch. Gas pump #2 is not calculating the total price
correctly at the dispenser, so don’t pay any attention to the total dollars.
It is being calculating correctly at the computer for billing. I had it
locked out until I found out that we have two different size nozzles on
the gas dispenser. #2’s nozzle is smaller and works a lot better on the
later style boats so I am leaving it unlocked.
Please look into getting your own TOCO card. I know I am
repeating myself but I am trying to get ready for when Dock Tales is
very busy. It is a little more inconvenient for the bartenders to complete
a transaction at this time.
Call me if you have any questions about the fuel or acquiring a TOCO
Card.

assigned specific parking spots.
Storage trailers may park in any open spot but will not be assigned the
spot in the event the spot is needed for boats on a trailer. Storage trailers
may be asked to share a spot or move to another spot.
