History of WiDA

North Carolina adopted the WIDA standards for ELLs in the 2008-2009 school year.

ESL teachers use these standards, alongside the content standards of North Carolina Standard Course of Study to meet the needs of students enrolled in an ESL program.

ALL teachers use these standards to build and differentiate instruction and assessment for English Language Learners.
