1. Registering Go to https://www.oriel.nhs.uk/web/account/landingpage and click on Medical and Dental Vacancies

Click on ‘Register Now’.

You can register at any time – before the application window opens on Tuesday 18th June 2019 and after the window has opened, but please note that we can’t accept late applications so make sure that you register and apply with enough time before the closing date of Wednesday 17th July 2019 at 4pm (UK time).

Decide if you wish for your registration data to be retained beyond our data archiving policy? This may be helpful if you

want to go on and apply for Core Psychiatry Training or General Practice in a few years’ time as it will save your details. Agree to the Terms & Conditions

3.1 National Training Number or Deanery Reference Number As you are applying for WAST, we do not expect you to hold an NTN or DRN. If you do hold an NTN or DRN, please contact

[email protected] before applying as the WAST scheme is unlikely to be suitable for you. Please answer ‘No’.

3.2 Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme The WAST scheme is only available in England so you can answer ‘No’ to this question, even if you do have membership.

4.1 Language Skills Please complete this section based on your personal circumstances. Although WAST is at F2 level, the application form you will complete is different from the one you would complete if applying to the UK Foundation Programme.

There will be further questions in the application form that relate to your English Language Skills and GMC Registration. Please note that we can accept Occupational English Test scores as well, but if you have taken the OET you won’t be able to add in your scores here (you will be asked for them later in the application process) Please note you might not see all the text shown on the page below, it will depend on your answers to the questions. If you answer to ‘no’ to all the questions, the system will prompt you to provide evidence of your English language proficiency. You can add brief details here (e.g. OET booked, PLAB 2 passed) but don’t worry about this section too much as it will be covered again in the application form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS As a doctor, dentist or other healthcare professional, you are required to demonstrate skills in

written and spoken English which allow you to perform your clinical skills safely and to communicate

effectively on medical and/or health topics with patients, colleagues and the public.

NOTE: Applicants applying to foundation level (F1 or F2) are not required to complete this section of the

registration pages. You will be asked to provide details of your English language proficiency as part

of your application form.

EVIDENCE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

1) Was your undergraduate training in English?:

2) Have your language skills been tested through the academic IELTS(2) (International English

Language Testing System) in the last 24 months?

If yes, please enter the scores and date taken. If no, please go to Q3

For specialty applications: See advice in the Applicant Guide for more information on the IELTS test.

You must have achieved as a minimum the following scores in the academic lnternational English

Language Testing System(IELTS) in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application - Overall

7.5, Speaking 7.0, Listening 7.0, Reading 7.0, Writing 7.0.

3) Have you worked in UK NHS for 2 years or more?

If yes, please go to next section. NB: You must provide evidence of this at your interview.

4) Can you provide testimony from a UK consultant or supervisor relating to your English language

proficiency?:

If yes, please go to next section. NB: Documentation must be provided at interview.

5) Other – provide evidence of your English language proficiency (please refer to the APPLICANT

GUIDE for further information:

4. Fitness to Practise Please complete these pages based on your personal circumstances.

The registration form will ask the following nine questions relating to your fitness to practise:

1. Are you currently bound over, or do you have any convictions or cautions (including warnings and reprimands) which are not deemed 'protected' under the amendment to the Exceptions Order 1975, issued by a Court or Court-Martial in the United Kingdom or in any other country? N.B. You do not need to tell us about parking offences, but other driving offences must be declared (excluding fixed penalty notices).

2. Have you been charged with any offence in the United Kingdom or in any other country that has not yet been disposed of?

3. Are you aware of any current NHS Counter Fraud and Security Management Service (CFSMS) investigation following allegations made against you?

4. Have you been investigated by the Police, NHS CFSMS or any other Investigatory Body resulting in a current conviction or dismissal from your employment or volunteering position?

5. Have you ever been dismissed by reason of misconduct from any employment, volunteering, office or other position previously held by you?

6. Have you ever been disqualified from the practice of a profession or required to practice subject to specified limitations / conditions / warnings following fitness to practice proceedings by a regulatory or licensing body in the United Kingdom or in any other country?

7. Are you currently the subject of any investigation or fitness to practice proceeding by any licensing or regulatory body in the United Kingdom or any other country?

8. Are you subject to any other prohibition, limitation, or restriction that means we are unable to consider you for any position for which you are applying?

9. Do you know of any other matters in your background which might cause your reliability or suitability for employment to be called into question?

5. Employment If you are currently completing an internship as part of your medical undergraduate training, please include details of it here. Do not tick ‘I have no employment history’. You can add as many posts as you need by filling in the fields on the left and clicking ‘add post’.

If you have less than 3 years of employment history, then you will need to add employment gaps to cover your time completing your primary medical degree.

7. Registration Completed If you return to your Oriel Dashboard, you should see that the registration process is now complete.

This means that you will be able to apply for the WAST vacancy once it is open.

8. Opening the Application Form To apply, click on the ‘Vacancies’ button in the top black ribbon.

Please select ‘Psychiatry/General Practice’ from the drop-down menu.

You will be able to apply between 10am (UK time) on Tuesday 18th June 2019 and 4pm (UK Time) on Wednesday 17th July 2019.

9. Forgotten your Password? If you have forgotten your password, use the ‘Forgotten your password?’ function that is available on the right-hand side of the Oriel Sign-In page. Enter your email address and click ‘Reset Password’. You will also be required to enter a passcode generated on-screen. This is to prevent fraudulent use of the system. If the address entered has been registered on the system, an email will be sent containing a URL that allows you to specify a new password. This URL is only valid for 24 hours. In addition, if you initiate a new password reset, then any previous password reset links will be invalidated – that is, if you click reset password a second time you will need to use the second URL that you are sent. If you fail to enter a valid new password 3 times in succession, the link will be invalidated, and you will be required to initiate a new password reset. If your account is locked due to too many failed sign in attempts, you will be unable to reset your password until your account has been unlocked.
