How are we doing………………….

We have been busy in these last few months. WORK has been inundated with requests for help and we have tried to respond to as many as possible.

Kenya has had a complicated past year with 2 elections and much violence as a result. As always it is poor who suffer most.

WORK is sponsoring 111 orphans in School or College 95 widows, various schools and 2 Health centres. It is reaching out to the very poor who are in such need.

College Students during their

annual gathering

Sinoko Youth Polytechnic is continuing to give a tremendous training to those kids who cannot attain secondary School. They teach many artisan courses and ensure these young people have a chance in life. This year they have also completed new toilets and bathrooms for the girls dormitory

The new bathrooms under

way…….

Without you none of this would be possible so a HUGE……. THANK YOU……….

Have you ever…… Never seen a mirror or a photo of yourself? Never ridden in a car? Only used a stick to clean your teeth.... Asked what a TAP is? Had to ‘sell your body’ to feed your siblings... Walked 40 km to see your sister who was raped..... Never owned a pen..... Used a stone to clean yourself after going to the toilet....

and a chance to

improve quality of life

where there is NO

HOPE………

St Bakhita Health Centre.......... St Bakhita HC is growing and

the care offered now to the

large rural area is much

extended. With your help

WORK has completed the

building of the new Maternity

ward, delivery room and

female ward. The standard is

high and the mothers coming

are very happy! There is even

a hot shower after delivery!

Many women have never even

seen a shower before.......

The number of deliveries has

risen greatly and the 2 delivery

rooms are very busy. WORK has

provided oxygen and a special

recovery table for small babies.

Kenya has a high newborn

mortality rate so WORK is actively

helping to reduce this.

During the building works we were

able to renovate and improve the

original buildings and ensure the

standard we provide is high.

Many lives have been saved by

your generosity

Our Widows are progressing and have made some great improvements! Most of their houses now have iron sheets instead of grass. All of them have at least one animal and every group is growing financially with the help of their Table Banks. WORK has provided health care for those who are sick.

The Sinoko Widows dancing

as we arrived...

We have rebuilt a number of houses for widows after some huge tropical storms this year.

OTHER NEWS……….. Nangina Special School is doing well and all our students are happy and working hard

Our 8 orphans at Nangina Special School

The Students Association is growing and they are now starting a Mentorship programme so that every Orphan has a Mentor to advise and guide them as a ‘big brother or sister’.

WORK has a large team of women from rural villages who are trained as First Aid workers and basic midwives. To encourage them to be source of accepted knowledge they now have their own uniforms!

These amazing ladies work tirelessly for the people

in their villages – they are volunteers!

With the help of friends we have been able to provide additional health equipment. These include

WORK has been involved with the poor and isolated village of Namboboto from the very beginning. It is wonderful to see the Orphans doing well in school and College, the Widows gaining & supporting their families and the Clinic offering excellent health care to a large population. This is only achieved with YOUR HELP.
