•Wikipedia is an offshoot of Nupedia which is now an abandoned project.

• Wikipedia was publicly launched on January 15,2001 on domain www.wikipedia.comby Wikimedia Foundation in English.

•Later it was changed to www.wikipedia.org

• In May 2001 it was launched in other languages as well.

Anyone can add any kind of nonsense or accidental misinformation to existing articles which may take years or months to detect or remove.

•VANDALISM

Anyone can delete huge amount of text from articles or the complete article itself ,ruining lots of work known as “BLANKING”,referred to as vandalism.

• USABILITY ISSUES

It can run so slowly that it becomes unusable for editing or consultation.

• NET LEVEL ISSUES

It contains many articles on irrelevant topics such as Toilets in Japan, teh(Misspelling of “The”).
