The 2017-18 school year may be ending, but in some ways, this June is already the beginning of another chapter. Our 8 th graders move on to the next level in their school experience, high school, and we have already begun to welcome our incoming 6 th graders with our Middle School “Sneak Peek” that took place on May 31st. The end of the school year is no longer just a celebration of time off, it is also an opportunity to provide different educational opportunities to your child and a chance for us to improve our services by making adjustments for academic improvement and a positive school culture that support our growth as a school. I encourage you to take advantage of our summer math and literacy camp opportunities if you received the invitation that your child qualified for them. While your children may be gone from school over the summer, we are still here. I ask that you contact us with any questions or concerns – our summer schedule is located in this newsletter. We have tours scheduled over the summer, please take the opportunity to come see RMS for yourself and talk with me. I hope you will let me know and be willing to have a discussion with me if you feel RMS is not meeting your expectations, as your child’s education, growth, and well-being are the primary reason our staff went into education in the first place. We want to remind you of a few things that will help us focus on teaching and learning as we prepare to welcome your child in the fall. Please help us support your child’s education in the following areas: 1. Encourage reading for pleasure over the summer. Even a half hour of reading 3 – 4 times per week makes a difference. Utilize the Roseville Public Library or even online sources to allow your child to pick articles, magazines, or books that are of interest to them and that they can handle. Talk to your child about what they are reading. 2. Have our child take advantage of fun, free resources like Cool Math http://www.coolmath-games.com/ 3. For parents of our current students – take advantage of MobyMax and iREady at home over the summer anywhere Internet access is available. A few sessions a week will help your child retain what they learned this year. See the information in this newsletter for how to access MobyMax and iReady over the summer. 4. Make sure all of your contact information is up-to-date. Our goal at RMS is to have a safe school environment where students are actively engaged in worthwhile learning. We look forward to continuing to work with you to meet this goal. ~Jason Bettin Principal Roseville Middle School Go Wildcats Calendar: 6/15 Summer Break Begins 8/22 Student Orientation, 9am - 4pm (see page 2 for more info) 8/22 Parent Orientation, 5pm (see page 2 for more info) 9/4 Return to School!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is with both excitement and anticipation that we write to you as we end another school year and move into summer. To

our current families, thank you for allowing us to serve your child and you this year; to our incoming families, we look forward

to working with you in the years to come. The 2017-18 school year may be ending, but in some ways, this June is already the

beginning of another chapter. Our 8th graders move on to the next level in their school experience, high school, and we

have already begun to welcome our incoming 6th graders with our Middle School “Sneak Peek” that took place on May

31st.

The end of the school year is no longer just a celebration of time off, it is also an opportunity to provide different

educational opportunities to your child and a chance for us to improve our services by making adjustments for academic

improvement and a positive school culture that support our growth as a school. I encourage you to take advantage of our

summer math and literacy camp opportunities if you received the invitation that your child qualified for them. While your

children may be gone from school over the summer, we are still here. I ask that you contact us with any questions or

concerns – our summer schedule is located in this newsletter. We have tours scheduled over the summer, please take the

opportunity to come see RMS for yourself and talk with me. I hope you will let me know and be willing to have a discussion

with me if you feel RMS is not meeting your expectations, as your child’s education, growth, and well-being are the primary

reason our staff went into education in the first place.

We want to remind you of a few things that will help us focus on teaching and learning as we prepare to welcome your

child in the fall. Please help us support your child’s education in the following areas:

1. Encourage reading for pleasure over the summer. Even a half hour of reading 3 – 4 times per week makes a

difference. Utilize the Roseville Public Library or even online sources to allow your child to pick articles, magazines, or

books that are of interest to them and that they can handle. Talk to your child about what they are reading.

2. Have our child take advantage of fun, free resources like Cool Math http://www.coolmath-games.com/

3. For parents of our current students – take advantage of MobyMax and iREady at home over the summer anywhere

Internet access is available. A few sessions a week will help your child retain what they learned this year. See the

information in this newsletter for how to access MobyMax and iReady over the summer.

4. Make sure all of your contact information is up-to-date.

Our goal at RMS is to have a safe school environment where students are actively engaged in worthwhile learning. We look

forward to continuing to work with you to meet this goal.
