Residents were invited to take part in the competition organised by Miracle Publishing in co-ordination with Yaquby Stores and The Camera Shop. It offered contestants a chance to win fantastic prizes for their photography of 'Wildlife of Bahrain'. The three categories for entry into the competition were professionals, amateurs and students. Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Under-Secretary Dr Nabeel Abulfateh presented the winners for each category with their prizes supplied by Yaquby Stores. The presentation ceremony was held in the Education Zone at the Bahrain International Endurance Village, Sakhir. The Mara'ee photography contest winners are: Students: Reem Khali, Ebrahim Mohsen and Amiya Chadramouli Amateurs: Binoy Balakrishnan, Tasneem Al Sharqi and Krishna Das Professionals: George Matthew and Manfred Erber. The top 30 photographs are on display at an exhibition in the Education Zone. Meanwhile, the operetta Land and Sea - a portrayal through music and poetry the link between the people of Bahrain and their land, sea and animals - was yesterday praised as one of the highlights of BAPS 2010. Performed for His Majesty King Hamad, as part of the glittering opening ceremony at the Endurance Village, the production captivated His Majesty and distinguished guests. Set against a multimedia backdrop, the operetta songs and poetry, written by Ali Shargawi with music composed by Ahmed Al Harmi, were performed by 150 Bahraini students and 200 ardah dancers and traditional singers. It featured live cows, camels and falcons, along with a stunning Arabian horse display. The lighting show and animations added to the magical atmosphere of the operetta.

Wildlife photography winners are named

WINNERS of a photography contest held as part of the Bahrain Animal Production Show 2010 (BAPS) were announced.
