As exciting as the idea may seem, wildlife photography is always intimidating for amateur photographers. The entire concept of getting the wild tamed on Polaroid seems like an impossible task to achieve. However, it need not be so. Follow the following tips and get to click some stunning photos of the beasts!INVEST IN A GOOD GEAR
Point-and-shoot cameras are great when it comes to portability and clicking random pictures. When it comes to wildlife photography, quality pictures are assured if you invest some bucks in single-lens-reflex (SLR) cameras. It allows you to have a manual control over exposure settings, great zoom in and take several pictures in a row. With Digital SLRs, you do not have to worry about the cost of film; you can take any number of shots and select the best one. KNOW YOUR GEAR
A great wildlife shot is a hit-or-miss case. If you are not familiar with your gear, you wouldnt be left with much time thinking of the best way to capture the best shot. Before you embark on your safari expedition, research the habitat and the species as well. And yes, your camera. Familiarise yourself with its settings, shutter speed and exposure. When you go clicking, you should be able to make necessary adjustments to your camera settings without lifting your eye from the viewfinder.
CLICK THEM RAW
If your camera allows you to shoot photos in RAW format; so much the better. They are bigger than JPEG photos in terms of image size without compromise in pixels. It allows you later to edit the photo in your software and enhance the images look and feel, without any distortion in picture quality.WORK THE LIGHT
Light is an extremely crucial factor when it comes to clicking good photographs. Many animals prefer dawn or dusk for their activities or they live in the woods, where it is impossible to get a favourable lighting. Invest in the best set of lenses, which allows one to take sharp photos. Go for fixed apertures, which let in the same amount of light through the entire zoom page.
PATIENCES A VIRTUE
Photography is not just about good lenses or fantastic angles. Luck is one thing but here you have to create the perfect moment for the perfect shot. You cannot enter a spot, wait for five-ten minutes and walk away with a great shot. Since animals can be unpredictable, you need to have oodles of patience - which includes observing the animal behaviourism, quirks and action. Good observation will familiarise you with your subject, preparing you to shoot at the right time and at the right angle.
PUT IT IN CONTEXT
Get wider shots of the animal you are choosing. If you give a wide angle on the viewer, one will get a better idea of what environment the animal lives in. Putting it in context gives us a perception of the wild.
EDIT IT JUST RIGHT
The plethora of quality photo editing software at our disposal today has made things much easier. You can set the correction for the just right exposure, saturation, colour and contrast. However, a photo editing software wont promise to turn your blurry photo into a sharp one or turn a dark photo into a well-exposed one. Hence, it is necessary to follow the above tips.
