Will it be possible to live forever?

Well, I don't think that it's going to be possible to come up with technology which will permit us live forever. Nothing remains forever. However, it may be possible for humans to live for a very long time. Now, I don't know why it is that people just assume that if the useful human life span can be systematically increased, why everything else would just remain the same? If we extended the useful human life span for say, a 1000 years, of course that development would change everything. It would bring about many complicated changes at many levels. We would have to impliment some kind of control over family size and population size in general. Moreover, we would have to start thinking about colonizing other worlds.

Now, just because there may be means for significantly extending the human useful life span, doesn't mean that natural aging would continue in the usual fashion. There would be no point in extending the human life span if people were just going to get older and deteriorate more and more over time. If we can't, in some reasonable fashion, reverse the effects of natural aging, there's no good reason to extend life beyond the norm. I, however, believe that natural aging can be reversed. There exists a number of ways to go about this.

The best approach, I feel, is through human cloning. Human cloning is far more than most people think that it is. It isn't just the creation of a delayed twin, as most believe. Human twin studies and something called quantum mechanics suggest that as the cloned human being matures, they and their genomic donor will ultimately become one and the same person, same over all consciousness. This has very wide ranging implications. Thank about the possibilities for space exploration, etc.
